While every vote is counted, and every voice is heard, The Arc of California and the United Cerebral Palsy are encouraged by the historic voter turnout. When a record number of people get involved in our democracy, it can be a better reflection of the diversity of our citizens and ultimately shows us that people are willing to engage in advocacy to help influence the positive change they want to see in their communities. And while we don’t have the data in yet, we have reas...on to believe that this year more people with disabilities than ever before exercised their civil right to vote, said Jordan Lindsey, Executive Director for The Arc of California. Here's how: Find your polling place: https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/polling-place Make sure you know where you can vote and know any COVID-19 precautions or changes at your polling place.... Plan to wait. There may be long lines to vote. Make sure to take anything you need to be comfortable like a snack, warm clothes, any medications, or a chair. You can also ask the polling place for an accommodation to help you wait in line or move ahead in line, but they may not be able to grant your request. Remember: States must permit voters waiting in line to vote, even if the polls close while you are waiting. So, don’t leave if the polls close.
