The ocean is a play ground. Can you picture it? The cute little insiders and the tide pools are like the kiddy park. The outside sets break on the big, more experienced play ground. Families go to enjoy the sounds, the smells, the wonder of the seait’s for all of us. Except it’s not a space divided by age, gender, race, salary, or experience level. It simply IS and we are the protectors and the stewards of this one ocean that connects us all. Practically, this mean...s we need to keep it clean, y’all. Trash goes in cans, not the streets that lead to gutters that lead to storm drains that lead to the sea. We can do better by the sea than we have been, than we do now. I feel a sense of ownership when I think of the sea, but don’t get it twisted: she owns ME. She owns US. Without what the ocean provides, there is no Blue Planet. Our January Betty, Marion Clark @maliona68 works hard & plays even harder in & out of the waves to bring a stoked life to any and all who board her Surf Bus. We were pumped to catch up with the latest. Here's what she shared... "After becoming a mom, I've learned how to surf with a new body, a new confidence & a new presence in the line-up. Often, I'm the only woman in... the water...and it can be easy to give waves up because of that...but now, I'm feeling into this awesome power of motherhood. And it's a whole new game-- and it's feels really good to feel this strong in a different way... My goals for 2021 are to restructure the donation program for the @surfbusfoundation Through doing this, I want to make the kids who -- for their whole life were told they can't surf, they don't belong at the beach, or, its not for them -- feel welcomed by the Ocean AT ALL TIMES, and that there's a whole community of people who WANT them to be there."
