Awesome Day with our Veterans! On September 11, 2016, a group of the Salinas Elks No. 614 members volunteered to serve and honor our veterans with a BBQ luncheon at the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital, Spinal Cord Injury Unit. This is an annual event as we thank, remember and recognize our veterans who have served our country and who have fought to keep us safe. It was a pleasure as we assembled and delivered 120 plates to those who were unable to physically join us in the lun...ch room and patio. We served an additional 105 to the veterans that were able to join us along with their family, nurses and the Spinal Cord Injury nurses and staff. We are grateful to the San Francisco Giants Baseball Club for their generous gifts to the veterans. 20 Ball caps with Baumgarner #40, 3 bobble heads of Hunter Pence, and 1 autographed baseball by Brandon Crawford #35. All these items were raffled off to the veterans. Winners were delighted and thrilled! Committee Chairman, Ben Hanly and Charlie Frost are thankful to the volunteers who were able to make it for this event.
