The Haunted Doom!

The Doom is now a page in History. Anyone that missed the past 10 years.. missed the best haunt In the Valley

What took years to build, is taking weeks to undo. Three dump loads so far and we still haven’t reached the front door. Man, there’s a million screws and I’m impressed at how well it stood up to the thousands of visitors who braved its hallways. What the heck am I going to do with so many Caskets ? Dead bodies and severed heads ?

There have been unforgettable moments and I feel blessed by so many who have endured the haunt and went on to tell others about us. Thank you all for all of the great memories. We are already in discussions of doing an escape room so not all Is lost. Just too thin on the ability to deal with the construction this late in the season. Freak’n impossible. But next year. Who knows. Anything Is possible

The Doom is about 50% torn down. We removed the full size tree from the haunted forest. Funny that most never realized it’s true size. From ground to ceiling and touching both outter walls. It took days to cut it in sections, bring it in and reassemble it using rebar and epoxy. Yet in 3.5 hours it was cut thin enough to drag out the door but once in our 16’ dump truck, it still hung 8’ out of the bed. Hilarious drive as we clipped trees along court street because the branches were still too big to cut. Bitter sweet end to a decade of fun and memories. And all the rest we gave away. I’ll miss it. But there’s always something around the corner. This guy hasn’t called it quits yet. Just in a newer direction

The process of undoing 10 years of building and creating has begun. The final operational walk through was private and I’m proud of what my friends and I created. It has been one hell of a ride. We’ve begun at the exit and removing the Doom screw by screw and taking special care of the props keeping each props components together. We’ve been inside the Doom from .6am till about 1 pm It’s a 4-5 week process to dismantle this. Tomorrow 9/4 I’ll be there but on a limited ...bases. I have websites to close and policies to end to wrap this up correctly. I’m happy for all the memories we’ve shared and in no way is this a failure. It just gives me a chance to rethink what I want to do next. The idea of doing an escape room has been suggested. So stay turned. The 2017 season is now over and with bitter-sweet feelings, the doors were closed for it long winters rest. Plans for 2018 are already in the thought process as we are hoping to increase our charity based fundraiser by inviting each of the High Schools in the VSUD to get involved and think outside the box, and help with both design and construction of 2018’s version of THE DOOM. We want to thank both the students who helped make this years DOOM, our best SCARE yet and to those who came to experience our nightmare and help support our efforts to help our students and their programs. So, until next season.... THE DOOM will be back

Thanks for the great support

So far this season has been amazing with some absolutely fabulous student volunteers who have added yet another level of scare to our HAUNT we are proud to bring this, our 10th anniversary edition of Mooney’s Haunted Doom to the public so our donations to the school programs our kids represent can really help with some of the expenses that through normal channels, perhaps our students may not be able to afford. Rumor is we are going to have a head counter. We hope this rumor is untrue as the Doom is a charity and loss of that ability would be destructive to why we exist.
