TIPS FOR WHITER TEETH THIS SUMMER Happy, smiling couple with beautiful teethWith summer just around the corner, it is not just a bikini body you should be aiming for. Summer is also a great time to meet new friends and that usually begins with a smile. Be confident flashing those warm grins with sparkling white teeth. Follow these steps and sooner than you think, clean white teeth can be yours. Brush Your Teeth Regularly... You certainly cannot avoid drinking refreshing fruit juices and other colored beverages such ice-cold frappes to keep you cool during the warm hours. However, these drinks could cause teethdiscoloration and regular brushing can help prevent it. Nothing could go wrong with regular brushing at the very least, two times a day. Not only should you brush, you ought to do it right too.Use a toothbrush that is not too large or not too small for you with bristles that are soft enough not to damage your gums. Spend at least a couple of minutes cleaning every section. Make it a Habit to Floss Everyday Why flossing should be a part of your regular dental hygiene could never be reiterated enough. Ask any dental professional and they will tell you that it is one of the most important dental cares to ensure healthy gums and teeth. Brushing alone cannot remove lodged food particles between teeth. These food particles become a breeding ground for bacteria and start the buildup of tartar that unsightly yellowish substance glued to teeth like cement. Have a Regular Dental Prophylaxis No matter how you brush and floss, you would still need to visit your dentist for complete dental cleaning through prophylaxis, at least two times a year. Plaque and tartar have means of finding their way into the hard-to-reach areas between your teeth which may only be removed using dental equipments specific for the purpose. You can feel your teeth squeaky clean and your mouth feeling fresh after an appointment.

Spring Cleaning - For Your Smile! Spring is on its way! For many of you, this is the time to thoroughly clean your homes of dust and cobwebs, get rid of clutter and let a breath of fresh air into your life. But what about your smile? Even with regular daily brushing and flossing, routine cleanings, or "prophylaxis" (literally "preventive treatment of disease") at the dentist should be an important part of your spring routine. A twice-annual examination, check-up, and cleaning... are highly recommended. In fact, according to the Academy of General Dentistry, getting a professional cleaning a least twice a year has a significant impact on the quality of a person's long-term oral health. In the case of professional teeth cleaning, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. It Makes a Difference! Regular cleanings, including scaling and polishing by your dentist or hygienist, will remove plaque and tartar (mineralized plaque) which builds up over time and is nearly impossible to remove with regular brushing or flossing. Dentists use special tools or ultrasonic sound waves to help remove plaque or tartar. Without a regularly scheduled cleaning, plaque and tartar can attack the gums, which can lead to gingivitis and a number of other complications. Professional cleanings and routine exams can also bolster your at-home dental hygiene routine and give your dentist a chance to take a close look at your mouth to ensure that you don't have any problems that have gone undetected. 1. Replace your toothbrush Take a moment to consider how you've had your current toothbrush. Was there holiday music playing on the radio and a tree in your living room at the time? According to the American Dental Association, you should change out your toothbrush every 3-4 months. When bristles are frayed or worn out, they aren't able to clean teeth as effectively. So if you've had your toothbrush since winter, we highly recommend getting a brand new one for the new season. 2. Restock on supplies As you organize and take inventory of your cleaning supplies this spring, don't forget to replenish your oral cleaning supplies as well. Items such as floss, mouthwash, and toothbrushes are great to have stocked up for guests or travelling. Consider purchasing extra floss or a toothbrush to leave in your purse or vehicle in case of emergencies. On top of keeping your smile squeaky clean and making sure your oral health is in check, a professional cleaning appointment gives you the opportunity to have a conversation with your dentist about your daily dental routine or any concerns you may have. Regular exams and cleanings can give your dentist a good idea of what your habits are, allowing them to suggest changes you can make to improve your oral health. Take time for yourself and your teeth schedule a spring cleaning appointment with your dentist and keep your smile bright!
