It's too hot to really be talking about the holidays, but this adorable garden gnome nativity might not last that long. This whimsical nativity scene is crafted from ceramic and handpainted in Peru. Our fair trade partners at Manos Amigas help small workshops find new markets for their products and supports health and education in maker communities in Peru. What's your rug type? This is a Kazak. Known for their indigo blues, reds and ivories, as well as their casual and warm appearance. Our Kazak rugs are almost entirely naturally-dyed. The reason for the phrase "almost entirely naturally-dyed" is because some artisans choose to augment their natural dyes with some commercially-available dyes in order to create the precise color they desire. The wool in Kazaks is hand spun using a drop-spindle.... Fun fact: It would take 9-10 months for a 9'x12' rug to be completed by four to five artisans working five to six hours a day.
