Mr. Filardo always has a kind word and a funny joke before driving off. We have the best community ever! Donations like this add a special touch for our guests and we are so grateful.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: Carol Post. Here is her heartfelt story. "Volunteering has always been a part of who I am. As far back as I can remember in second grade when I joined Camp Fire Girls, I began doing volunteer projects. Throughout high school and beyond I was a Candy Striper and eventually a Pink Lady at the local hospital and did many more volunteer jobs over the years. When I found out about Jacob’s House a few years ago I had been looking for a new place to give m...y time. There was something about the house that made me feel an instant connection to it and the mission of what Jacob’s House stands for. After taking a tour and learning more about the purpose and who I would be helping I applied to be a volunteer. I have since been able to help prepare the rooms for the guests and help the make the house comfortable for them. I may never see the people I am helping, but that does not matter to me. Just knowing that I have touched their lives in some way is enough. The emotions of the house guests can be very raw at times. One time I was in the right place at the right time and was able to lend a listening ear to someone who just needed to vent about the situation that was happening within the family while the loved one was still in the hospital. It was quite an emotional moment, but in the end, I know I was meant to be there for her. Another time while I was cleaning the house I stopped what I was doing so that I could read stories to and play with a young boy so that is parents could just relax for a little while. That made my day! There are so many opportunities to help at the house and in the public that I have also been able to attend fundraising events, Chamber of Commerce events, and have had other Outreach opportunities to help spread the word about Jacob’s House. When I am not helping at the house I work at a local spice and tea store where I have been for the last ten years. I also enjoy cooking and trying new restaurants.I am thrilled to be able to help care for my granddaughter and take her on walks and view the world from the perspective of a two-year-old! See more

We were so happy to see Founding Board Member and our 1st CFO Kat Bailey drop by with her husband Jim and family. Kat was extremely instrumental in the beginning of Jacob's House. Thank You Kat and family for your hard work and dedication that paved the way for many , many families going though traumatic medical need.

Our Volunteer Spotlight this weekend is on Kayla Boone & Rachel Esconde! Kayla & Rachel chose to volunteer together on their shifts so it was only natural to spotlight them together! Here are their stories & why they are volunteering at Jacob's House on a weekly basis. Thank you Kayla & Rachel for all you do and welcome to the volunteer team! My name is Kayla, and I recently started volunteering at Jacob's House after graduating from UCSD earlier this June. I am currently a ...Medical Scribe studying to become a Physician Assistant, and it was actually my mom (a nurse at Temecula Valley Hospital) who introduced me to Jacob's House and its mission. And despite only being a volunteer for a few months, I am continually amazed and inspired by the care and love the organization has for the families they host. Jacob's House truly helps families in a way that not every community has available, which is why it has been a privilege to help out in any way possible and to be able to volunteer alongside such inspirational people. The team is simply amazing; they are the kindest souls, and never fail to let us volunteers know that we are appreciated! Again, thank you so much and have a great rest of your evening. Currently, I am working as a Peer Youth Specialist while planning to pursue a nursing degree in the near future. I began volunteering for Jacob’s House sometime in July. From the incredible team to the great lengths and effort put into making families feel welcome, their vision resonated with me the most when I was searching for opportunities to give back to my community. I am inspired by the organization’s passion, purpose, and unwavering commitment to people in search of a little extra help with the unexpected conflicts that life throws their way.
