Telegraph Social Distanced Trip 5 of COVID season in Yosemite!!! We have been avoiding Tahoe National Forest all season cause it’s packed. It’s exciting to see people are connecting and reconnecting with nature during the pandemic but trying to avoid people has been challenging.... One of the only good things about COVID is the limited numbers of people in Yosemite National Park. The NPS has truly been a COVID hiding ground with limited entry until November 1. Last Saturday ...a few of us spent all afternoon climbing and did not have to share the crag with anyone, then went to Olmstead Point for sunset and were still alone for an amazing light show. We feel for everyone effected by the pandemic and will be happy for the world when things go back to normal but 2020 will always be the best year for YOSE!!! . . . #alpenglow #firesky #halfdome #cloudsrest #yosemitenationalpark #yosemite #olmsteadpoint #california #californiadreaming #californiaburning #sunset #nature #beauty #neverstopexploring #ontheroad #allgoodneverbetter #traillife #takeahike #2020 #covid19 #socialdistancing #socialdistancing2020 #looksfake #butitsreal #tubemag #tubemagazine @tubemag : Joey Miller

Protected wilderness areas are designate for the betterment and enjoyment of ALL peoples but there is a stain on some of our most beloved organizations origins. 'Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.' Here the Sierra Club shares the culture and origins of Mountaineering in early 20th century America and how they plan to pave a better future to truly support ALL. ..."In these early years, the Sierra Club was basically a mountaineering club for middle- and up...per-class white people who worked to preserve the wilderness they hiked through -- wilderness that had begun to need protection only a few decades earlier, when white settlers violently displaced the Indigenous peoples who had lived on and taken care of the land for thousands of years. The Sierra Club maintained that basic orientation until at least the 1960s because membership remained exclusive. Membership could only be granted through sponsorship from existing members, some of whom screened out any applicants of color. The whiteness and privilege of our early membership fed into a very dangerous idea -- one that’s still circulating today. It’s the idea that exploring, enjoying, and protecting the outdoors can be separated from human affairs. Such willful ignorance is what allows some people to shut their eyes to the reality that the wild places we love are also the ancestral homelands of Native peoples, forced off their lands in the decades or centuries before they became national parks. It allows them to overlook, too, the fact that only people insulated from systemic racism and brutality can afford to focus solely on preserving wilderness. Black communities, Indigenous communities, and communities of color continue to endure the traumatic burden of fighting for their right to a healthy environment while simultaneously fighting for freedom from discrimination and police violence." ... https://www.sierraclub.org//john-muir-early-history-sierra...

Yosemite is back open and we went for a day trip up iconic Yosemite Falls. Yosemite National Park has implemented a temporary day-use reservation system and asks that we social distance (6 feet apart) in the park. On the trails we found it very easy to mask up when passing fellow hikers and not a hassle at all. Game On

We are all trying to get outside right now. Our favorite National Park, Yosemite is open and the best way to social distanced on your visit is in the backcountry. Wilderness permits are available up to 9 days in advance but what happens when nature calls and you have to ? Our favorite park rangers are here to help you answer that call!!! https://www.instagram.com/tv/CBxKaFCHegn/

Another trip up Signal Peak a few weeks back shows the difference a few weeks or even days makes in the mountains. This trip was particularly cold with an incredibly firm pack.
