Can you believe this was all painted by hand? First, @michaelreadyphotography caught the landscape on film. Then, we vectorized the imagery and took them down to 8 colors. Artisans of these panoramic landscapes painstakingly painted these tiny fragments to make up the larger picture. Bob Ross would never approve of this process! These large scale art pieces were based on panoramic images of Mission Trails, taken by @michaelreadyphotography. The photos were simplified and reduced down to an 8 color pallete, with each color value becoming a distinct height on the wooden canvas. Made up of tiny fragments that make up a larger picture, each piece of artwork mates digitial processes with artisinal hand-painted detail. #tecture #architecture #design #sandiego #handmade #designinspiration

"The Flock" was inspired after artist Maria Sibylla Merian, a German-born naturalist and scientific illustrator. This piece has to do with celebrating & examining nature, swarm theory in particular. Swarms of fish, birds, cosmos - anywhere you can see smaller elements coming together to create a larger group.
