Our Executive Director, Leafa Taumoepeau, with other members of the community checking in on the participants of Taulama Ma'ae Tonga Senior Program #Ngatuvai Since the #ShelterInPlaceOrder was made by our County of San Mateo - Government #HealthOfficer #DrScottMorrow was made, we have had to cancel our #SeniorProgram until further notice. These participants are amongst the most #HighRisk of our #community so it especially imperative and critical that we ensure their safety ...and their health is of the highest priority. It was truly a blessing and humbling opportunity to be able to provide them with some food for nourishment and to see them (quickly) to remind them that they are being thought of and missed. We are all praying that we will all make it through this unprecedented pandemic together and in good health. #WeAreALLInThisTogether #SanMateoCountyStrong #MostHighRisk #MostUnserved #MostUnderserved #MostVulnerable #COVID19 #PANDEMIC #CORONAVIRUS #Tongan #Samoan #Fijian #PacificIslander #Polynesian #BeKind #GodsMercy #HelpOneAnother #Service See more

From our Project Manager, Luci Latu: In the midst of COVID-19 outbreak, San Mateo County Health Executives still believe and will still propose cuts in San Mateo County health system staff and health services loke the Infectious Disease clinic at the Fair Oaks Health Center in Redwood City. San Mateo County is one of the richest counties in the state AND in the country. How is this even an option? Join us Tuesday, March 10th at 8am for a rally and then at 9am, the Boar...d of Supervisors (BOS) meeting at 400 County Center in Redwood City to strongly, passionately and emphatically DISCOURAGE the Board of Supervisors from allowing these reckless and irresponsible health cuts to occur!!! These proposed health cuts are just a legal way to KILL....to MURDER the most vulnerable, the most unserved, the most neglected and the most needy of our community...IT IS LEGALIZED MURDER!!! SAN MATEO COUNTY RESIDENTS, STAND UP, SPEAK UP, BE UP...Let the BOS know that we do NOT agree NOR support this inhumane, indecent, and heinous assault on our community!!! ****************************Please share/repost******************************* See more

San Mateo County Health is forecasting a $57 million gap in the budget for the 2020-2021 Fiscal Year. Some of the proposed measures to address this forecasted gap are: . - the reduction/ elimination of FRONTLINE positions . * TRANSLATION: ... = closing of the OUTPATIENT PHARMACY at the San Mateo Medical Center = discontinue PRIMARY CARE SERVICES at 2 BHRS clinics (mental health clinics in Redwood City & San Mateo) = decrease SENIOR CARE SERVICES at Fair Oaks Health Center = closing of the INFECTIOUS DISEASE CLINIC at Fair Oaks Health Center . Yet San Mateo County (the 2nd highest Median Household Income in California) has reported at the close of Fiscal Year 2019 a combined fund balance of $1.7 billion of which $1.1 billion is available for use at the County's discretion. . These cuts will directly and negatively impact our MOST vulnerable populations in our community. These same populations are the MOST needy and poor that the County is charged with caring for and serving since we are the ONLY public hospital in the County (the other 7 hospitals are all private). . We believe that these health cuts should be avoided, and other solutions need to be found so that we can continue providing vital services to our community. . Find out how you can get involved by attending our community meeting, TOMORROW NIGHT!! . "Community Event - Save Our County's Patient Services" Wednesday, January 22nd 6:oo to 7:30 pm Fair Oaks Community Center (next to Fair Oaks HEALTH CENTER) Classroom 5 & 6 2600 Middlefield Road Redwood City See more
