Where's the closest public beach? There's an app for that! I was excited to talk about coastal access and the CA Coastal Commission’s new YourCoast app with Dave Congalton on his Hometown Radio Show yesterday. I’m sharing the podcast of the show. And check out YourCoast, https://www.coastal.ca.gov/YourCoast/#/map the new smartphone app that maps almost every publicly accessible beach between Mexico and Oregon. Another feature enables users to search for spots with disabled ...access, tide pools, a bike path, an area where dogs can run around, volleyball courts, fishing and bluff-top trails, among other amenities. The app will help a lot of people to enjoy more of California's coast. Currently, the app only works on Apple iPhones. For owners of other phones, the information is on a Coastal Commission website, at www.yourcoast.org. You can pull up this website on your Android, too. The centerpiece of the app is a map of 1,563 public access points that the commission tracks along coastal California. Clicking on a particular access point shows photos of the path to the beach which can be hard to find and whether it has amenities such as parking, access for visitors with disabilities, restrooms or fishing facilities. It’s great. I downloaded it, said Jennifer Savage, California policy manager with the Surfrider Foundation, an environmental group. I love that it makes it so easy for people see what beaches are near them, along with information about how to get there and parking. It reinforces people’s sense that he coast belongs to them. A lot of times you might not see the access ways or know if something is public or private. The app arms people with more information and confidence. There is a process and while it may be more efficient and less expensive than probate it is nonetheless a process and time and money can be saved by having the right professionals guide you through that process should you find yourself in the position of being a Trustee. I assist successor trustees with implementing their loved ones trust, after death or during their loved ones incapacity. A well done & funded trust will avoid court but there are still formalities.
