Happy Jumaa! The Messenger (pbuh) was an orphan. This is a known fact. But being an orphan comes with a painful set of struggles: lack of support, lack of ment...orship and nurturing and lack of guidance. Many orphans often lose their sense of direction, and develop feelings of anger, frustration and indifference. They constantly yearn for love and affection. Who was the woman that provided the Messenger (pbuh) with all the care he needed until she saw him mature to adulthood to be the incredible man he was? And how does that woman inform our awareness of the world, especially during Black History Month? Join us today at Jumaa to learn more, inshaa’ Allah. Space at both Tarbiya locations will be limited so please arrive before the start of the khutba in order to secure your spot. Those not following safety guidelines will not be allowed to enter. Our three shifts of jumaa are 12:15 PM, 1:30 PM, and 2:45PM. Please bring a mask and prayer rug. Join us in person and online at 7:00pm for Tafseerah with Imam Azeez on Surah an-Nahl. Ummah Nights will be postponed. Make a Gift this Jumaa: https://tarbiya.org/steps/ https://venmo.com/Tarbiya-Institute

Happy Jumaa and Happy New Year! Rasulullah (saw) tells us, "there is such an hour on Friday that if any Muslim makes dua in it, his dua will definitely be accep...ted. Today is not only the first day of the year but also it’s first jumaa. What we hoping to see from life in 2021? As we set our gaze on the coming year, the challenges of the previous year still linger in our peripheries. Many will spend the year seeking to make up for lost time and amass those things they missed in the prior year. In their scramble to erase the loss of last year, they may also neglect its lessons. What kind of life should we be praying for on this very first jumaa of the year? Space at both Tarbiya locations will be limited so please arrive before the start of the khutba in order to secure your spot. Those not following safety guidelines will not be able to enter. Our three shifts of jumaa are 12:15 PM, 1:30 PM, and 2:45PM. Please bring a mask and prayer rug. Join us online at 7:00pm for Ummah Nights live-streamed as Imam Kamran takes us on takes us on a journey through the life of Prophet Ismael (as). There will be no Tafseerah tonight. Happy Jumaa! The holiday season, like so many other aspects of American culture, has both good and bad in it. On the one hand we see a spirit of kindness, servi...ce and familial piety. On the other we see major theological issues coupled with the a corporate holiday that co-opts the sentiment of so many people in order to drive up sales. This year, as many families spend the winter break at home, many questions about participating in Christmas traditions is acceptable. If we are not careful, we may let the little things that seem innocuous separate us from our Islamic identity and culture. Join us at Jumaa to learn more! Due to today’s weather conditions, please consider tuning into our khutba livestream at 12:15 PM instead of attending Jumaa in person. Space at both Tarbiya locations will be limited so please arrive before the start of the khutba in order to secure your spot. Those who are not following safety guidelines will not be able to enter. Our three shifts of jumaa are 12:15 PM, 1:30 PM, and 2:45PM. Please bring a mask and prayer rug. Tafseerah this evening with Imam Azeez will be live-streamed at 7:00 PM. Ummah Nights at Tarbiya House Natomas will be rescheduled. There will be no in-person events held at both Tarbiya House Natomas and Tarbiya House Roseville this evening. Happy Jumaa! A gift can say so much about both the giver and the recipient. Some gifts are a surprise while others are expected. A gift can be how we say I’m s...orry, thank you or I love you. When the recipient makes use of the gift, it honors the giver and demonstrates their appreciation. As we focus this month on the life of our beloved prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, we realize that he is also a gift to the believers! What does Allah (swt) tell us through this incredible gift of Rasulullah? How can we honor this gift and demonstrate our appreciation? Join us today to find out. Our three shifts of jumaa are 12:15 PM, 1:30 PM, and 2:45PM. Please bring a mask and prayer rug. Jumaa at Tarbiya House Natomas will be held indoors. New technologies are simply tools, in the right hands they can make the world better and in the wrong hands they become the weapons of destruction and injustice. But what if we aren’t the one’s using the technology? What if the technology is using us for someone else’s gain? The film explores the rise of social media and the damage it has caused to society. Whether it is the exploitation of its users for financial gain, a design meant to nurture addiction and effect on mental... health, and its role in spreading conspiracy theories in global politics. This Friday at Ummah Nights we will have an honest and open community discussion about social media and watch the movie The Social Dilemma together. The movie will be outdoors under the stars so please dress warmly and bring extra blankets! Don't forget your masks and a prayer rug and join us at the Tarbiya House Natomas at 7pm!

Happy Jumaa! In the Qur’an, Allah (swt) speaks directly to Rasulullah (saw) when He says Did He not find you orphaned, then sheltered you? And find you lost, t...hen guide you? And find you in need, then enriched you? In these early Qur’anic verses, Allah (swt) set the expectation for optimism that Prophet Muhammad embodied for the rest of his life and his mission, peace and blessings be upon him. He had a special way of seeing through the immediate pain of any circumstance and gaze upon the satisfaction that would come with God’s relief and aid. It is this infectious spirit of optimism that drove his followers to build the world’s greatest civilization despite their humble beginnings in the desert. It is this spirit of hope and faith that inspires us to call him the Great Optimist (saw). Join us today at one of our three shifts of jumaa (12:15 PM, 1:30 PM, and 2:45PM). Please bring a mask and prayer rug. Jumaa at Tarbiya House Natomas will be held indoors with our guest khateeb Imam Tahir Anwar for all 3 shifts. At Tarbiya House Roseville, please stay back to shoot some hoops after 3rd shift! At 7:00 PM this evening, we are honored to have Imam Tahir Anwar join us at Tarbiya House Natomas for Ummah Nights to discuss How to Build a Community. The event starts at 7pm. Refreshments will be served. Please bring a mask and prayer rug. Tafseerah will continue outdoors at Tarbiya House Roseville with Imam Azeez at 7:00 PM covering Surah Fussilat. There will be dinner served from Falafel Corner followed by Late Night Hoops. Please bring a mask and prayer rug. Can’t make it in-person? Happy Jumaa! Throughout history and even in our communities today we see those select few who have surpassed others in greatness. We see those who go above and beyond and they achieve what most people think is impossible. We look at those people and we recognize that they are the best of us. We celebrate their achievements and benefit greatly from their efforts! The quintessential example of this is the great companion and knight of Islam, Khalid ibn al-Walid! When we visit ...the story of Khalid, we recognize the signs of his greatness even before he accepted Islam. We start to realize why the Messenger said The best of you in the days of ignorance are the best of you in Islam. Join us today at one of our three shifts of jumaa (12:15 PM, 1:30 PM, and 2:45PM). Please bring a mask and prayer rug. At Tarbiya House Roseville, please stay back to shoot some hoops after 3rd shift! Jumaa at Tarbiya House Natomas will now be held indoors. Happy Jumaa! In surat an-Noor, Allah (swt) makes a statement about marriage that almost sounds like a command! He says Marry the singles among you! but today ...we as a community are experiencing a marriage crisis. There are of course the challenges that couples face, and the unfortunately high rates of divorce in our society, but even more significant is the number of obstacles that prevent young Muslims from finding a spouse and fulfilling this established sunnah of Rasulullah (saw). Marriage is one of the most powerful relationships that anyone could ever experience in this life. It both reveals who you truly are and it becomes a powerful force for change and growth, but all of this requires that we unshackle the tradition of marriage and revive healthy marriages in our community. Join us today at one of our three shifts of jumaa (12:15 PM, 1:30 PM, and 2:45PM) at Tarbiya House Roseville or Tarbiya House Natomas! At 7:00 PM this evening, join us for Tafseerah outdoors at Tarbiya House Roseville with Imam Azeez covering part 2 of Surah Zumar. Refreshments will be served. Please bring a mask and prayer rug. Can’t make it in-person? Tune in live at 12:15 PM for the jumaa live-stream with Imam Azeez and Tafseerah (Surah Zumar II) at 7:00 PM. During our Tarbiya House Natomas Celebration this past Friday night, Br. Faiyaz Keval shared a beautiful poem about his love for the masjid. My Mosque In this world full of variables... My mosque is my constant. It is the place where my heart and soul are content. A place to get away from the false world and connect with the truth. My mosque is my anchor in this sea of turmoil that is life. Lately the waves have been rolling hard and everywhere you look there is darkness in the sky. Inshallah the light from my mosque will never fade away. My mosque is the place I bring my kids, so they can learn what being a good muslim really is. A place to let go of selfish worldly desires. A place to see my brothers’ beautiful smiles. Without my mosque I would be lost. Thank you Allah for reopening our mosque. Thank you to my brothers and sisters who are always here helping keep our hearts and vision clear. May allah always protect us and our blessed mosque

Happy Jumaa! It’s a dog eat dog world they say and only the fittest survive. Such notions are used to justify all kinds of unethical and untenable behaviors! ...So when someone is reminded that Islam teaches us (often translated as modesty) they become skeptical. How can we practice such a virtue in a world where timidity and modesty are punished and boldness and flamboyance are rewarded? We forget that even Allah (swt) practices and God is never in a position of weakness. So what does this virtue truly mean and what does it teach us about how we should be have in the face of a world filled with challenges? Join us today at one of our three shifts of jumaa (12:15 PM, 1:30 PM, and 2:45PM) at Tarbiya House Roseville or Tarbiya House Natomas! At 7:00 PM this evening, join us in-person celebration at Tarbiya House Natomas with Imam Kamran! Dinner will be served by Falafel Corner. Please bring a mask and prayer rug. Happy Jumaa! Why can’t Allah just reveal Himself to us? How are we supposed to believe in what we can’t see? How can I be sure that Allah (swt) actually interve...nes in my life? These are the kinds of questions that arise when someone becomes blind to the endless blessings from God that surround us! But Allah (swt) responds to this line of inquiry by reminding us of one of His 99 names: Al-Dhahir, The Manifest. Today we explore how Allah is more Manifest in our lives than we may realize. Join us today at one of our three shifts of jumaa (12:15 PM, 1:30 PM, and 2:45PM) at Tarbiya House Roseville or Tarbiya House Natomas!
