Drawing class did a marble drawings, at home and in the studio (a combined class of zoom and in-person students)
One of the most rewarding moments of teaching kids is you receive a work from them stating they were indpiredbsnd continued working on drawings after class ended. This one is by the wonderful Noam-Tamar.
These Kandinsky inspired works came with some rules (like in a music composition) the kids had to choose 3 different colors for each square but also to make sure that one of theses color repeats itself in the following square. They used oil pastels and watercolor. My 5-7 group. Working from home.
When on Zoom, I’m totally depending on kids and parents’ good will to share with me the kids work. This is a modest selection from our last two weeks. We were learning about Ted Harridon’s northern landscapes from the Yukon territory where he lived and worked. Some are from my youngsters (k-1) and some are from my older kids (5-8)
All I’m hoping for the new year is to be able to have all of my students back in the studio asap, because I miss you all so much! Wishing all of us just a normal year for 2021!
So since we back in Shelter-in-Place, we are temporarily on Zoom again. My youngsters received a packet with some surprises before class and were very enthusiastic to create their window art for the holiday which is just around the corner.
My creative drawing group of kids had lots of fun today!
Fun Halloween stuff with my drawing group
My students already know that I don’t throw anything away. You can always make something out of nothing (one of my family’s favorite books is Joseph Had a Little Overcoat) and my favorite activity, which is also my students all time favorite, is assembling found objects. Hardware, bolts and gears, screws and hinges, tins, old brushes, and even cutlery find themselves a new meaning and a new life. Add some paint and you have a winner! More works will be posted
My kids drawing group is turning heads...
Drawing class drew negative space this time
6-7 years old made these adorable self portrait collages from scraps.
Brushes and colors, pen and watercolors by my 3rd-4th graders. We made an observational drawing of these wide brushes and then went to town with burst of color combinations using only the 3 primary colors. I think they are lovely, don’t you agree?
Getting ready for Rosh Hashsnah, my teens 5th-8th graders) painted apples and pomegranates with watercolor and ink.
4 ladies came to the studio for one night 4 weeks to create these fun paper mache creation. After such a long break it is good to have adult classes again!
My outdoor studio is ready for the young artists who will sit at these tables soon...
Another great week passed, and this was the one to close the summer... I got to love these kids, some of them spent a great chunk of their summer with us and it felt like we were just one big family (well, except for the masks...). At the Grand Bazaar we created so many wonderful goods: Moroccan tiles, darbukas, spice boards, bowls, hamsas, and purses and tote bags to carry everything from the market back home. At the end of the week the parents received a stash of (homemade) money so they can go on a shopping spree at our market (they could only buy their own kids’ work though...). They ended up with lots of great bargains!
