Responsibilities Courteously greet custom...ers and provide them friendly service Check out customers accurately and efficiently Assist other cashiers and customers to reduce the amount of time customers wait in line at the checkout counter Be knowledgeable about the products and their placement in the market Maintain an organized environment at the checkout counter Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary environment at the checkout counter Follow all California rules and regulations governing the sale of tobacco and alcohol Follow all cash handling and cashier policies and procedures with resulting minimal cash box variances Assist with inventory counts Assist grocery team members keep the market shelves, refrigerated and frozen cases, and other product displays clean, sanitary, and organized Perform opening, shift change and closing duties as assigned Arrive to scheduled shifts on time Comply with our dress code and our personal hygiene code Comply with our COVID-19 protocols Skills and Other Requirements Enthusiastic about our market and products Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment Ability to follow directions and established procedures Willingness to learn and then capably use the software and computerized devices integral to our inventory management and point of sale systems Willingness to learn and accept guidance and criticism from others Strong work ethic Treat team members and customers respectfully Good communication skills with team members and customers Foster and encourage a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and high morale Desired Work Experiences Team environment Customer service Supervisory and team leader experience Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Must be able to lift 20 pounds Must be able to stand 8 hours in an 8-hour workday Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching Exposure to cleaning chemicals and products Exposure to various food products, possibly including some that may have allergens, such as milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soy, among others Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezers), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
