Since March, our community has experienced a significant rise in unemployment, food insecurity, evictions, and crisis intervention calls. These nonprofits were quick to pivot to virtual operations while meeting the increasing demand of their services and strengthening human connection. Give back for our people: www.givebacktahoe.org
When resorts and fitness centers shut down, our trails felt the increase in demand as they became the primary place to recreate. These nonprofits showed up to repair and maintain these spaces so that they could continue to provide us all solace. And for our furry friends that had their own adjusting to do with the pandemic, they created a free pet food distribution program to lessen this burden for families in need. Return the favor at www.givebacktahoe.org
As many of us had to adjust to having children at home 24/7, we are so grateful for our nonprofits that strived to make virtual learning engaging and productive. They modified and developed curriculum for a digital platform and raised money to ensure that our students had the tools they needed to stay focused on their education. Send gratitude to www.givebacktahoe.org
Tahoe Truckee would not be the special place it is to live without these organizations working hard to promote wellness and keep us connected to our roots. They better our community by developing and maintaining our trail systems, increasing food security with local and sustainably-grown produce, restoring historical buildings and so much more. Show them your support at www.givebacktahoe.org
Today, we want to highlight our nonprofits that have helped keep us all artistically engaged and culturally educated throughout the year. Did you know that they quickly adapted their programming to provide virtual workshops, lessons and showcases to keep community members inspired throughout the pandemic? California wildfires have continued to increase in every imaginable way -- hotter, faster, bigger, and more catastrophic. How do we deal with the scale of this problem - and the scale necessary for the solutions - within the framework of our existing policy? Register for our Forest Futures Salon this Thursday, Dec. 10, to hear from our speakers who have decades of experience in state-wide action for wildfire mitigation, rural resilience, and forest restoration: https://www.ttcf.net//forest-/forest-futures-salon-series/
