It doesn't happen every year, but when it does we get pretty excited. The 2017 Tackett+Barbaria Summer Reading List is up! Come over and see what we're reading (or at least hoping to read). What about you? http://tackett-barbaria.tumblr.com/

May is Bike Month, which means riders have committed to riding thousands of miles. Steve committed to making a video about his commute. It's pretty cool, though Kim is staying in her car (and staying to committed to recycling to equalize her carbon footprint). Take a look: https://youtu.be/-XQIQeryx1g

Some days our work matters. Today is one of those days. How lucky we are to get to touch and share stories like this.

Just finished the Sac State MBA overview brochure with the team from the College of Business Administration. Most of our work is web these days, but seeing (and smelling) ink on paper is always rewarding. Loved being on campus and learning how Sac State graduates are leading our region for good. Thanks to Stephanie, Jeanie, Shawna and Vik for a great team effort, and of course, to Ken Worthern for actually getting the ink on the paper.

Something designerly and entertaining (though not super useful). A visualization of colors in films. Kim is more than a little concerned that her favorite is Blade Runner. See for yourself. http://thecolorsofmotion.com/films. Source: SwissMiss

The new Tackett+Barbaria website is up! http://tbdesign.com. Who says old dogs can't learn new tricks? (And who said we were old dogs anyway?) Come on over and check it out...new work, legacy work, cute and wise dogs (but no puppies yet). Also, some cool video of Steve drawing an arrow, which Kim seems to really love. Thanks to Gordon Lazzarone, Angus O'Keeffe and our amazing clients, colleagues and friends who have supported us for all of these years (btw, that would be 245 in dog years).

Here's a Monday morning something to get us back into the design swing of things. While the piece claims the redesign would be for hipsters, we think these rebrands would be pretty great for all of us. We might even reconsider Cap'n Crunch. #designiseverywhere http://www.boredpanda.com/junk-food-rebrand-dan-meth/

Graphic design saves lives, or at least it could have saved last night's Oscar hullabaloo. It may not have been as entertaining, but it would have been correct. https://www.fastcodesign.com//this-simple-design-change-wo. Design is everywhere, example 1.

Will and John have been our friends for 30+ years, and they hold the distinction of having the oldest T+B logo and business system still in operation. We've always been inspired by their work and thrilled to be engaged with them (we worked on titles for their Kerouac film and the poster for Dreaming of Tibet. But this time we'll be admiring their work, along with the rest of the world, as they share their work at the Academy Awards ceremony. So proud and happy for both Will and John at Mill Valley Film Group.

If you've been part of the Tackett+Barbaria Design family, you may have some of Judith's work...the Alice poster, or the Gandhi "be the change" piece we did aft...er 2001, or the Margaret Mead "a small group of people" notecards...the bookmarks, the take a risk valentine, or the verb poster (all designed by Pam Matsuda). There have been other pieces too...and people wonder why we love letterpress so much...it's because of Judith. See more

Have you wandered over to Art Street yet? It's kind of wonderful...we went on Tuesday and I suspect we will make a few return trips. Guess which photos are Steve's and which are Kim's (giving you a head start on a few of them). Maybe Sacramento really is a cool place after all?
