Fear is a liar. Be good to your future self!
How should you sit with a disc herniation? Disc injuries in the lumbar spine require time to heal. One of the worst things you can do is sit in the wrong position for prolonged periods. This compression causes pressure on the surrounding nerves and causes muscles to tighten. If your disc is herniated or bulging, sitting in a flexed posture will push the soft center of the disc even further into the nerve space. Sitting with a rolled up towel or sweater in the car or at the workstation can keep the soft tissue pushed away from the nerve space and in a quiet environment. This facilitates the healing process and prevents flare ups.
Who needs this?
Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional. #transformationtuesday #transformationthursday #transformeveryday
Why does it take more than one or two adjustments to make a LASTING change? It’s the same reason why you don’t get a six pack the first time you do sit-ups. Muscles take time to adapt and stabilize the changes in the spine. It usually takes 4-8 weeks for muscles to adapt to new demands. Thankfully getting adjusted feels amazing and someone else is doing all the work! All you have to do is show up! Enjoy the process #transformationthursday
I really love this pillow(COOP homegoods) and highly recommend it because you can customize the thickness of the pillow to your body size. If you sleep on your side, you should be able to fill the space between your ear and your shoulder. If you sleep on your back the pillow should be thinner and fill the space between the back of your head and trapezius muscle. Check it out on Amazon or pick one up at the office. #sleep #wellness
Pivot: to make a small adjustment in direction in order to change the desired destination Sometimes the smallest adjustments make the biggest changes. But why is it so hard to change the things we know we should change? If I want to change the negativity in my mind but don’t want to change the exposure to the things that put me in a negative mindset, ill never move. If I want to change the pain in my body but don’t want to change the bad posture, poor sleep positions, and nev...er get adjusted, I’ll never feel as good as I was designed to feel. Sacrifice what you value for what you value more. Give up what you like for what you can’t live without. He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep in order to gain what he cannot lose
If your plants were sick what would you do? Put some Advil in the soil? Our bodies are self healing, self regulating mechanisms unless we become toxic or deficient. Add the deficiency(good food, good motion, good thoughts) and remove the toxity(bad food, no motion, bad thoughts) and your body will do what it does best: Heal.
When the gyms reopened after the last closure in response to COVID, I noticed a major influx of patients with tendinitis diagnoses. This time, be prepared to rehab and kick off your training safely. For those who strength train, start with lighter free weights and avoid the cables in the first few days. Take it easy on the elbows(triceps extensions, preacher curls, etc) and anterior shoulder(front dumbell raises). Instead focus on form, breathe, technique, and post workout rehab for the first 3-5 days on the major muscle groups, making sure to hit each muscle group for 1-2 sets max. Ice the elbows, front of the shoulder, front of the knee, and low back for 15 minutes after the workout for the first 5-7 days. #injuryprevention
Do you feel like one of your legs is longer than the other? Most times this is due to a functionally mis-level pelvis influenced by asymmetrical muscle tone. For those who run or perform impact sports, this can be detrimental to the soft tissues of the hip, knee, ankle, and spine. Check your sleep position and make sure you don’t sleep on your side with one leg bent and one leg extended. If you do, be sure to stretch your hamstrings and hip flexors first thing in the morning when you wake up to reset the symmetry in your extremity muscles. Adjustments will mobilize the joints to increase flexibility and strength training will stabilize the changes. @ Costa Mesa, California
A bone restricted in its motion can go undiagnosed and be asymptomatic for years before it gives off a pain signal. By that point, degeneration, disc damage, and muscle changes can create a pressured environment for the spinal cord. I started doing a spine check-up at least once a month and every year I feel better and push my body harder than the year before. #wellnesswednesday #wellnessjourney
Mobilize the spine, stabilize the muscles
Intention is everything
If a frog is put suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out, but if the frog is put in tepid water which is then brought to a boil slowly, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death. That’s not too different from the way human beings generally treat their own bodies. If you find yourself experiencing more headaches, back pain, lower energy, and worse sleep than you did 10 years ago you might not be perceiving the change in temperature. Too many people wait... for the BIG diagnosis to jump out of the boiling water and start getting adjusted, eating right, and exercising. So what does an adjustment feel like? It feels like a natural, healthy, drug-free step in the right direction that mimics coming up for air after slowly boiling in a concoction of poor choices. Being under chiropractic care as a lifestyle is also an opportunity to spend quality time with your doctor whose intent is to educate you on how to release the innate potential of your body to feel incredible. Sorry, it got a little deep. What I meant to say was Damn it feels good to get cracked See more
