There is an old story from the Shaolin monks that tells of a student whose master made him punch the water contained within a bucket until such a time as the al...l the water had splashed out. Then he would refill the bucket, and repeat the process at least 5 times a day. 2 years later, he returned home for a short visit to see his family. When he arrived home, he was incessantly questioned as to what he had learned in his time with the monks so far. When finally he got to the point of frustration with the questioning, he exclaimed "I really have learned nothing!" and slammed his fist down on the family dinner table with a thunderous boom. The family members looked on in awe as the once solid oak table, had split in twain. Never again did they question the legitimacy of the Shaolin monks or their studies. See more
