Happy birthday to Ida B. Wells! Ida was an activisit and journalist who worked to bring international awareness to the lynchings of African Americans in the South. She was born into slavery and after the Civil War, at the age of 16 she became primary caregiver of her six brothers and sisters. To provide for her family, she soon became a teacher and later traveled to fight for civil rights issues. She fought hard for Black rights, women's rights, urban reform, and more importa...nt civil rights issues.
