We are incredibly fortunate to still be open during this time. Takeout and curbside pickup has been a lifesaver, and putting up these umbrellas has been nice too. We are weathering the storm as best we can, and we even have some new offerings. - - We have cold brew now available on draft, thanks to @groundworkcoffee ! It’s something we’ve been wanting forever and now that it’s going to be 100 degrees all week it’s the perfect time to enjoy. -... - We are slowly expanding our vegan and GF pastry options, one cookie at a time. We have a fantastic dried fruit and nut Mountain Bar, perfect for a pre-hike snack. @kellyscakesandpastries is a damn rock star. - - There still isn’t any word on reopening dine-in service; it’s all outside for now. Please wear a mask indoors when you order and wait outside while we prepare it. The whole thing restaurants are dealing with right now is mitigating the number of people indoors at any given time breathing the same air, and even if you’re just ordering a coffee you still have to put a mask on while you do so! CUSTOMER APPRECIATION POST: As you’ve probably seen, another hammer blow to restaurants was dealt two days ago, as all indoor dining in LA has been suspended again. Probably the right call, as the virus has a nasty tendency to spread in spaces with recirculated air, even with good filters- which is why wearing your MASK when you pick up or walk in to order is so necessary! That being said: the Toluca Lake, Burbank and Valley Village neighborhoods that have been our lifeblood ...are INCREDIBLE and we are so, so, so thankful. We’re taking Independence Day off tomorrow, but back at it again Sunday 7/5 at 8am. - - All of the regulars checking in on us, supporting us, sending encouraging notes and most of all buying a meal or several meals throughout this time: we couldn’t do it without you. This year is our ten-year anniversary and despite it all, we’re still here- thanks to you. Shoutouts to Beverly for making the manager tear up by sending him a handmade pot holder and thank-you note. Shoutouts to everyone who listened to our interview on @kcrwpressplay , where our manager and the events coordinator for @aocla discussed the difficulties of reopening restaurants. We are incredibly grateful and lucky to have been able to stay open, and even EXPAND our hours to what they used to be, 8AM-4PM. We are even luckier to still be able to innovate and put out new pastries and menu items, limited though they may be. Have you ever had a Napoleon as delicious as this? Unlikely. - - It’s been heartening to see some retail, restaurants and bars start to slowly reopen. The community in Toluca Lake has been incredible; anyone who lives and works here ...can attest to the level of support and love in this neighborhood. What’s also encouraging has been the level of support from all over #LA county, and even the state. We’ve had people call from all over the country, New Mexico to #NYC, to ask how we’re doing and how to support us. - - #Restaurants will claw their way back, they always do, but we’re going to look and feel differently for a while. We are taking steps this week and next to work out a plan to safely reopen the patio and hopefully the dining room. Doesn’t mean it’ll happen tomorrow, so please be patient as safety is still the top priority. #takeout and #curbside for now, and WEAR A MASK if you come indoors. - - Thank you for everything. For all the moms and families getting an early start this weekend: Sunday, we’ll be open at 8am! - - One of the best things about our location is the proximity to a great family neighborhood. So much of our clientele lives literally around the corner and it’s a pleasure to see families move in, grow, and connect with each other. -... - We don’t think this weekend will have the Mother’s Day anyone expected. Restaurants are in an extremely surreal place. So many great spots have closed temporarily or shut down completely. We’re fortunate that we already had infrastructure in place for takeout and delivery but know how hard it is for the bulk of restaurants to change how they do things. Every day presents new and different challenges and it’s only with the combined efforts of the community that we are able to meet them. Thank you to our customers who have been so patient about the... ever-changing menu and limited availability of items. Hoping to bring back some specials next week, and pastries are ramping back up as well thanks to @kellyscakesandpastries - - What do we do after we’ve applied for the loans, the grants, the hospitals and nursing homes that need regular food supplies? We wait. And hope. We rely on each other, our regulars, our friends and families to weather the storm. - - There are plenty of amazing organizations out there helping to save this industry that is in absolute freefall right now. We’re trucking along, trying to adjust with the rest of the world. We’re getting along, grateful to still be here and hoping for the best as LA and everyone else rides this out together. - - Things that have happened: we finally started carrying gluten-free bread, courtesy of Evolving Kneads bakery. Customers can take home a loaf or put any of our menu sandwiches on their gluten-free hearty white. We’ve also stocked a few of their gluten and dairy-free desserts as well! They’...re delicious and we’re happy to have more options. - - We’re going to be closed #Easter Sunday. Back at it Monday with fresh treats and optimism for the week.
