Sutter Street Cruisers 23.01.2021

Two-Wheeled Tuesday this week shows off this Lady Tango, a Sutter Street x @flyingmachinebikeparts project-in-progress. The ability to add accessories and components correctly, and without it appearing just slapped together, takes both patience and time. There isn’t a blueprint to ensuring proper fitmentmost of these parts are universal and some aren’t necessarily meant for wider-wheel applications. In the search for an aesthetic appearance similar to ladies’ bikes the... world over, we have been working diligently to add: Full Fenders Chainguard Rear Rack (not pictured) to this platform from @ruffcycles in the hopes of creating a comfortable Cruiser, with just enough attitude to make you do a double take. Flying Machine’s Dual Spring Fork and Ape Hanger combo provides the right amount of attitude and marks all the boxes off the build sheet in both the Form and Function categories. We’ve got something special set aside when it comes to the rollers on this ride; so stay tuned for the color pallet to be provided and the remainder of the details to take shape.

Multi-Colored Monday shows off some of the newest platform pushers in-store currently, recently released from Cycle-Psycho Customs. Created using either 1/2 or 9/16 pedal spindles and internals, there are numerous chances at customization as any combination of colors is a possibility. 19mm beveled di in matching rows are pain-stakingly pressed into the drill, and assembled in some of the combos you see before you. And these are just some of the pre-made alternatives! Thin...k about how the right shade could be scattered across your Bike like Bob Rossadding in happy little splashes of color on your drivetrain (w/matching valve stem caps to boot!) Ladies.....you aren’t the only ones taking accessories to the next level!! These Gambler Stompers remind us that simple tools and a little determination can still contribute dramatically to your overall end result. Look for them, and all our other available products online at www.sutterstreetcruisers.com. Make it a wonderful week!

Fabrication Friday’s this week is like a Bible Parable, with the Tale of 3 Sinners and @lawlessbicycles. This is some real Goldilocks shit right here.......one is too small, one won’t fit and one is JUSSSTTTT RIGHTTTTT. Jack at Lawless is quickly establishing himself as the Mr. Wonka of the Custom Bicycle Candyland; continually releasing new and improved products and not afraid to assist with a one-off request. With a multitude of machined aluminum madness, you better do ...some extra chores so you have enough allowance saved up to splurge!! There are already multiple Shifters compatible with Shimano Nexus and Sturmey Archer created in various sizes, but we asked for help in working on one a BIT more custom for a creation in-progress. The result?!? This 7 bad-boy pictured far right. Machined for a top-tube mount (and not nearly as heavy as you may think) we will be adding this to a Flying Machine Frame and marking another to-do off our pre-powder plan. If you think we do everything ourselves YOU’RE TRIPPING. It takes a village; a true combination of talented individuals to create the customs you see coming out of our shop. But the moral of the story is don’t be afraid to ask for assistance! The squeaky wheel gets the grease as they say and you best believe a closed mouth won’t get fed! Now excuse us as it’s rude to talk with your mouth full.......

Wheel Wednesday coming in HOT to start the New Year off with a BANG!! When you’re talking about ultra-wide wheels, you’re already talking about a class of bike all-their-own; as there aren’t many frames out there wide enough to accommodate a wheel width of 3 or more inches, let alone the widest wheel currently released at 5+. Add into the mix the desire for multiple gears, sufficient braking and then A FRONT WHEEL WIDTH TO MATCH and THIS is what you come up with. Thoug...h only the rear is pictured of this 2-part set, you can already tell how epic this compilation of components can be. Starting with dual 26x130mm wheel hoops, we drilled both hoops and hubs out to 8-gauge Spoke diameter before breaking them down for powder coating. The front wide-body RUFF and rear @sturmeyarcherargentina 3-speed disc brake hubs are some of the largest on the marketspanning both the proposed fork and frame widths and providing disc-brake alternatives both front and rear they function as well as they look. Hoops and Hubs were powdered Metallic Bronze from @prismaticpowders by @tntpowdercoating , with contrasting hues and textural surfaces on the @buchananspokes spokes and nipples. (With a special thank you-assist to none other than @xavis_bike for the Sturmey reassembly.) All this talk about the wheels and you’re probably wondering....What will these even fit on, anyways? Well rest-assured we figure this out by putting pen-to-paper before ever approaching these parts with the tools necessary to complete the task at hand. These fat daddies will take their place at the heart of a @kingzebbacustomcruisers project and not a moment too soon. 2021 is coming in hot! What will you be riding to the Party?!?

Another Wheel Wednesday is already upon us!! People always inquire about the potential of purchasing pre-made wheel sets.....like they would be able to walk in and grab a pair off the wall like earrings to match an outfit already predetermined. Unfortunately the process is MUCH more involved than that as we need to know:... Front and Rear Wheel Diameter/Width Desired Gearing Desired Braking Front and Rear Spoke Count, Thickness, and Lace Finish on all Components Fork and Frame specific measurements Today’s set is a perfect example of this, as everyone likes the look but not everyone can fit the size of these ridged rollers on their ride. RIdged 26x4 double wall wheel hoops from @origin8cycling were drilled to 8-gauge thickness and paired with their same non-disc from hub and a @rideshimano Coaster Brake 3-speed rear. Hoops and Hubs were powdered a matte charcoal, nipples a matte black, and spokes a matte white by @tntpowdercoating before the 3-cross lace puts them back together again. Dramatic Look and Feel?!? Definitely. Are they for you? Maybe. But regardless of which way you ride don’t let the question-and-answer or inability to immediately acquire discourage you!! All good things to those who waitpatience is a virtue, and all those other generic statements that will make you realize when you wait for something like a Custom Pair of Wheels from Sutter Street, that the end result will overshadow any production delays or hiccups along the way. Guaranteed to be Right. Guaranteed to be Badass. Guaranteed to be Built just for you.
