Fast drivers and icy roads kept our Chester CHP officers busy yesterday. We had several spinouts and collisions yesterday due to drivers not slowing for conditions. This collision of a suv vs. tree occurred on SR-36, west of Fire Mountain Lodge at approximately 7:45 p.m. The driver related he was traveling at approximately 50 mph when he lost control and struck the tree. The occupants were returning from a day of playing in the snow and fortunately no one was hurt. CHP reminds you to slow down for winter weather and give yourself extra time on your trip.

What do these two morning Chester area crashes have in common? Both were 100% preventable. Fortunately no serious injuries occurred, By driving too fast for conditions, both drivers endangered not only themselves, but others as well. Where is the win in totalling your truck to save 30 seconds on your drive? Please slow down!

** Truck lost it's load of nuts this morning** This morning at approximately 8:50 am, a semi truck lost control due to it's speed for the icy roadway conditions of SR 32. This collision occurred near mile post marker 10 in Tehama County. The eastbound semi truck overturned, and thousands of pounds of walnut shells that were destined for the Honey Lake Power Plant were spilled across both lanes of traffic. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from this collision. Unfortunate...ly, this crash wasn't all that it was "cracked" up to be and hundreds of local squirrels were disappointed to find that the walnuts were empty. The walnut shells provide a valuable resource for the biomass power generation plant outside of Susanville. Cleanup efforts were completed at approximately 4:25 pm. Susanville CHP reminds you to check road conditions and to slow down for icy roads and inclement weather! See more

**Roadway Information** 10:00 AM SR-32 is restricted to controlled one-way traffic at mile post 10, in Tehama County due to an overturned Big Rig. The overturned truck has spilled a load of Walnuts across lanes of traffic. This is a non-injury collision and CHP is currently on scene. Please check roadway conditions before traveling. Our highways are icy and snowy today.
