Calling all cheese lovers (so basically everyone)! We have a seasonal treat in the Surfas cheese aisle this week: Petit Vaccarinus! Never heard of it? Petit Vaccarinus is a smaller version of the much-loved Vacherin Mont d’Or. Like its larger cousin, it’s made between October and March, from what is known as ‘hay milk’ i.e., winter milk from cows fed on hay instead of grass. As such, this cheese is only available in the colder winter months, and traditionally enjoyed as par...t of a fireside meal or a holiday feast! With a captivating aroma of roasted peanuts, damp wood, forest floor and mushrooms, it can be enjoyed room temperature or warmed and melty. But either way it's served, bread and wine is a MUST!
