We are sure Principal Boulton won't mind us sharing this..... This is one of the many reasons we love our school, our community and our families. Wishing you all a wonderful, safe 4th of July weekend. And remember to support the Sailor firework stands! "This is to let you know that our last grocery gift card distribution was yesterday. We have distributed nearly $90,000 to our most needy families over the last 15 weeks. Our list grew from under 20 families back in Ma...rch to over 130 by the end of June. We informed the families three weeks ago of the end date so they could plan in advance, and we were able to be more generous with the hardest hit these last two weeks. All of the families have been incredibly gracious, patient, and thankful. ..... I have been reminded repeatedly these last months of the great generosity of our staff and our community. In addition to the huge, huge, huge amount of money donated to the NHEF Angel Fund for this project, individuals have also donated dental surgery to a girl who would not tell her parents how much pain she was in because she knew they could not afford a dentist’s fees, a bike from Two Wheels One Planet for a student who had no other means of transportation after his was stolen, and beds for two sisters who sleep on the floor. Fork, Knife + Spoon donated dinners for the families one week, and David Pyle not only let us use the parking lot of one of his properties for our weekly distributions when we could no longer do this from school, he also provided coffee and treats from MoonGoat Coffee Roasters for all the families for the many weeks we distributed from there. And of course, none of this would have happened without Diana Long (who is the essential link between our students’ needs and the community’s resources), Emily Evans (who kept track of all the donations), Fabi (who helped many of families get on our list), Sean (who came up with this idea in the first place), and of course the very able and always cheerful distribution team: Nick, Missy, Larry, and Kathleen. Many of our students were in dire need before COVID-19 and will likely continue to be long after it’s gone. With that in mind, the NHHS Inclusion Council is working toward ways to support our neediest families over the long term -- which is excellent news. But until something more permanent can be established, please let me know if you hear of a student in need." https://www.supportnhhs.com/
