Santa Clara County has officially entered the Orange Tier and approved indoor dining at 25% capacity! While we’d love to open our doors and welcome our friends back right away, we need a little time to get our staff up to speed to ensure the safest experience possible for our guests and employees alike. Elegance. Grace. Charisma. Beauty. Scotch Egg Katsu & Japanese Curry. (Just in case you needed a chuckle today). This dish was created by Chef Winson. He outlines his innovative process: Menchi Katsu is a traditional Japanese dish of breaded and fried ground pork. We have an abundance of cured eggs (ajitsuke tamago) and I didn’t know what to do with them. Scotch eggs came to mind, and it just made sense to combine two very Japanese things (menchi + ajitsuke tamago) into some...thing not Japanese at all. I was making a family meal one day (Salisbury steak), and the gravy I was working on reminded me of Japanese curry. When I added Japanese curry powder to the mix, and a bit of cocoa powder (the secret ingredient!), it was there. This curry is based on a small, unnamed curry shop in Tokyo that I visited. This dish is still available for pickup through supergoodkitchen.com. Our pickup hours have shifted this week from 3PM - 7PM, Thursday through Saturday.
