A little good goes a long way! This month, Sunset Studios is proudly providing donation bins across our lots to help collect gently used and new coats for those in need in our community. We will be donating the coats to Union Rescue Mission, one of LA’s largest nonprofits serving families and individuals experiencing homelessness.

Meet Bailey. She’s a 13-year-old, loving but feisty chihuahua whose owner (a Sunset Studios employee) bought her from a security guard when she was just two months old. She loves treats and wandering around guarding the lot when she’s not napping next to her owner in the management office. #HumansofSunset

RuPaul's Drag Race was filmed on Sunset Las Palmas stages 5 & 6. RuPaul plays three roleshost, judge and the debonair mentor, Mr. RuPaul. Contestants compete to become America’s next drag superstar by re-inventing their glam drag queen looks and performing in a high-stakes lip-synch performance. The show was awarded a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Competition Program in 2018 and 2019, and won the Outstanding Reality Program Award at the 21st GLAAD Media Awards. #SunsetMade

Jasmine Guy as Whitley Gilbert to on again/off again boyfriend Dwayne Wayne played by Kadeem Hardison. The groundbreaking Cosby Show spin-off was inspired by student life at historically black colleges and universities and shot all six seasons at Sunset Bronson.

I was working in a hair salon when I met a woman who had done makeup for General Hospital for 30 years. She gave me her number so I went to the set with my kit and I ended up working on the show regularly after that. Since then, I’ve worked on Modern Family, Grace and Frankie and many other shows. In 1926, the mansion on Sunset Blvd still served as the Warner Brothers’ personal offices. This photo was taken just one year before The Jazz Singer was filmed on the lot (the first talking movie). Today, the mansion has been carefully restored and houses production offices for top content creators.

Moesha filmed at Sunset Gower from 1996 to 2001. The series starred R&B singer Brandy as high school student Moesha Mitchell coming of age in Los Angeles. Originally ordered as a pilot for CBS, the series was rejected by the network and eventually picked up by UPN. The sitcom was one of the network’s biggest hits, delving into critical issues of the time. The series also spawned the popular spin-off, The Parkers.

Joey Lawrence as Joey Russo. The popular catchphrase was originally written as surfer lingo, but fans did not respond well. Lawrence used the opportunity to do something more comedic and it worked. The series was shot at several Los Angeles sound stages, including Sunset Gower.

Portuguese street artist Alexandra Farto employed a groundbreaking carving technique he describes as a form of symbolic urban archaeology to create this stunning wall fresco on the new parking structure at Sunset Las Palmas. It’s visible from Santa Monica Blvd. at Seward St. Check it out!

Netflix’s latest post-World War II drama, Hollywood, depicts Tinseltown with a twist. Filmed at Sunset Gower, Tony Award-winning actress Patti Lupone recounts being offered the role by showrunner Ryan Murphy in The Hollywood Reporter: I would not say no to Ryan.and to be able to go to work at Sunset Gower Studios and look to my left and see the Hollywood sign? I was just in heaven."
