We installed thirteen energy efficient windows for our customer’s recently purchased home. He opted for single hung windows with Low E glass to replace his single pane aluminum windows. The problem with most single pane aluminum windows (and wooden sash windows) is that they are getting towards the end of their usage life. Most of these don’t open and close smoothly or properly. We replaced a large window in the front of this customer’s home. He wanted to have it replaced for a while since it is the largest single-pane window that he still has in his home after his purchase. He told us that whenever he sits or stands next to this window, he can feel the chill of the air and winds. It was time for an upgrade. This window measured 5’ wide by 9’ high. Since the other windows in this living room were painted shut, he wanted to ensure functionality of the window. We discussed this and finally settled on a stack window with a fixed unit on the bottom and an XO slider along the top. We replaced thirteen wooden sash windows with all new energy efficient vinyl windows. The homeowners wanted to 1. preserve the original look in the front of their home that was created by the divided lites of glass along the top of the three fixed windows, and 2. add more functionality to the windows that were there. We opted to manufacture two single hung windows along either side of the large fixed window. We designed this with valence grids to match the original as much as possible. We were tasked with installing 11 white vinyl retro-fit windows and 1 white vinyl retro-fit door for a two-story home in Rodeo. The homeowner's main concern was that he wanted double pane windows. His old single-pane windows were raggedy and not operating properly. All of the windows were inset into the existing wood frame (where applicable) rather than installed on top of the frame.
