Sunburst Youth Academy

Cadets competed by home rooms in the Cadet Games this weekend. The games consisted of the hex bar relay race, tire flip, wheelbarrow relay, football toss and the iron chair (similar to a wall-sit). Nominated Cadets on Saturday participated in the Cadet Challenge where they must score a 180 or higher on the old Army Physical Fitness Test for the age 17-21 year old bracket, which consists of 2 minute push and sit-ups, followed by a 2 mile run. Next, they disassemble and reass...emble their bunks and wall lockers in 25 minutes or less. In addition, they competed in a 4 mile road march with a 1 hour 10 min cut off time, all while carrying a 20lb rucksack. Also, on Sunday, committed Cadets completed their run club event here at SYA with a 12k run. Some Cadets participated and completed all three events. They have been tested and are ready for their continued success when they head home. Congratulations on your hard work! -SGM Peter Gutierrez

It is with huge regret that Sunburst Youth Academy announces that the Class 25 graduation scheduled this Saturday, June 6, must be POSTPONED due to safety reasons. We give Class 25 cadets the highest of praise for their motivation, strength and resolve, having pushed through their high school endeavors during this difficult time. Each graduate overcame extreme challenges during this time of global and local crises, and persevered. Please join us in congratulating them at a future date to be determined.
