Now that Dr. Wilkes has received 2 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, let’s review what’s happening with his immune system: Vaccines foster immunity by imitating an infection caused by viruses or bacteria. It helps rev-up your immune system like the military prepares defenses for an attack. Right now his immune system is creating white blood cell fighters called Lymphocytes, and proteins called antibodies. As this preparation occurs it’s normal for him to experience some minor ...symptoms like body aches, fever or chills. It will take a few weeks after vaccination for his defense unit to assemble and be completely ready. These warriors will remember the coronavirus if encountered and attack it on site! On Saturday Dec 19th Dr Wilkes received his first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine as a staff member of Los Robles Hospital.
