Summergrass on Prime Time TV A while ago Summergrass was contacted by a television show and asked if we would send them a poster from our festival. The premise in the show is that a victim who recently moved to New Orleans had lived in San Diego and they wanted something from the area to make the connection. Well, looks like one of the posters that Jim Henderson sent them made the cut. What show? NCIS New Orleans. It will air on Feb 14, 2021. ... We don't know how much actual air time the poster will get probably just a passing shot but you never know...tune in and find out!

UPDATE 6-10-20: To our Summergrass fans, The Summergrass Board has always prided itself in presenting a festival that was friendly, safe and welcoming. This year was no exception. We were on our way to having a wonderful event. Every year there are always things that pop up which we have to find a way to work around or adjust to the circumstances. However, this year we are just overcome by the current virus environment and there is nothing we can do to change it. We have held... off our decision as long as we could hoping that the State would give us permission to gather. However, this is not happening. Recently, we sent out a survey to our fans who we have contact information for to gather their information and opinions on the possibility of having Summergrass 2020. We have now looked at all that data (see key survey results, below). Many people (about 50%) would attend without any restrictions, but there were also as many (about 50%) that would not attend if there weren’t restrictions in place (social distancing, masks, etc. ). We know that we cannot accommodate all the restrictions deemed necessary at this time and also have a successful event. So, it is with great sadness that we must make the decision to cancel Summergrass 2020. We know this is a major gathering of our bluegrass family, and please know we will miss seeing you all our bluegrass Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Brothers and Sisters. Please also know that we intend to hold the reunion next year Summergrass 2021. As we go forward, we will keep our loyal attendees informed on the future and we are now planning for a wonderful Summergrass 2021. Summergrass prides itself it giving our fans new bands full of promise. And Summergrass 2020 was set to debut this dynamic, new group The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys. Their music cuts right through the noise of the world and speaks plainly to the soul. Formed in the Smoky Mountains, they take pride in being ambassadors of their genre, and the group has brought their music from rural bluegrass festival stages to the rock clubs of Europe. Here's a video from Front Porch Music Preservation Society. They are well known local band and each year they also are the gospel band at our Green Parachute Church meeting on Sunday morning at Summergrass. While they won't be there today at the cancelled Summergrass 2020, here's a little bit of Folsom Prison Blues from their show at a past San Diego County Fair. Summergrass 2020 was proudly going to debut the Clinton Davis String Band. Here we are featuring is tremendous prowess as a noted fiddler along with his stellar band. Working as a band and also at many music camps and festivals, this band is making a name for themselves in the acoustic music world. Traditional fiddle tunes and old time music feature the base for many bluegrass tunes, as you can witness here. Enjoy "Pike's Peak" here from the Clinton Davis String Band. Each year, Summergrass proudly features many local bands in our lineup. Here is one of our steadfast local San Diego bands, High Mountain Road. Bluegrass Etc. has been Summergrass' most beloved band over our festival's existence, performing just about every year to large crowds every year. They are the "real deal", and they're the band other bands make sure they see each and every time they grace our stage! Summergrass 2020 would have been coming to you this very weekend. As you know, we had to cancel our festival this year, so we're going to feature a few of our bands' videos for y'all to enjoy.
