The Filling Station presents Gratitude! When Chuck Wagner, the owner of Caymus, gives you advice, it’s probably a good idea to take it! Chuck suggested that The Filling Station have a special varietal that nobody else carries, so he offered us our choice of grapes straight from his vineyard literally in our back yard. Luckily, winemaker (and childhood friend) Don Huffman agreed and jumped on board. After walking the vineyard and tasting many grapes we settled on two, a Corv...ina and a Rondinella, both typically native to the Veneto region in Northern Italy. Excitedly, on an early October morning we gathered a small group of friends and family to harvest. We picked all the grapes BY HAND, transferred them up to Rockville Cellars, and spent the rest of the afternoon preparing them for fermentation, even stomping with our bare feet like Lucy and Ethel! The house on the label is an original watercolor by friend and amazing local artist Sandy Imperatori. It is a beautiful rendition of our 100 year old home in Suisun Valley which sits on the estate from which these grapes were grown. So, as you can see, we have named this beautiful blend aptly for a community of folks that have made it all possible and for whom we are forever GRATEFUL.
