Othonna capensis is a criminally underrated trailing succulent! Given plenty of full sun, they will turn this gorgeous purple-red that gives them their ‘Ruby Necklace’ common name. They have these sweet and petite yellow flowers as well; seems like this one doesn’t realize that we’re in Autumn yet! We have one big full 8 pot in the garden, but for those of you who like to watch your plants grow from itty-bitty to large, we have plenty of 2 pots as well! Hit the product tag or head over to the link in bio to shop. . #succulents #succulove #succulentlove #othonna #othonnacapensis #trailingplants #supportsmallbusiness #bernalheights #sanfrancisco

It’s #PlantTipTuesday! Many of you have asked about fall/winter plant care, but in SF we still have lovely temperate weather in the 70s! That doesn’t mean that there’s nothing to do, it just means we have extra time to prepare before the cold hits. Do you have your overwintering strategy ready? Some easy things to do while it’s still nice out: 1) Figure out your light situation, that way you can figure out early on if you need to invest in some grow lights! South and west fac...ing windows are generally best for those light-hungry plants, but take into account buildings that may block the light; 2) Last chance to plant and fertilize! You don’t want to do this stuff during the winter because winter growth (if it grows at all) tends to be weak and straggly due to the lack of light; and 3) Clean your windows. Really dirty windows prevent light from coming in fully, so the window in this photo is gonna need a nice cleaning to be winter-ready (hey, we gotta get ready too!). . #planttips #succulents #succulove #succulentlove #succulenttips #thesucculence #bernalheights #sanfrancisco See more

Eve and her adult came in recently to the Planting Bar to create a terrarium! We love her choice to keep it simple with pink glass and white stones, which really make the green succulents pop. We showed her how to create her own terrarium, but the artistic choices were all her! Thanks Eve! . The Planting Bar is open every day from 10am to 5pm for walk-in creativity. One of our plant artists can walk you through creating your own plant art, or we can bring your artistic vision to life! Just be sure to follow social distancing guidelines. See you at the Planting Bar!

These Hoya carnosa compacta are incredible! They are native to Asia, hence their common name, 'Hindu Rope.' In general, hoyas are incredibly slow-growing, so it's not often we get them in this lush and trailing! (Yes, we know they also look like tortellini, and they're non-toxic so you can certainly eat them, but they won't taste like pasta.)

STAFF PICK - Dan There are so many cool stacking Crassula (‘Buddha’s Temple,’ perforata, etc.), and so many that are not typical of the genus (like multicava)! They have amazing flowers (like this ‘Morgan’s Beauty’ here); sometimes the plant itself is nothing special, but when they bloom, they become a whole different plant. . We literally cannot show you all the different types of Crassula we have in stock in a social media post, because there are so many different speci...es and cultivars! And you know they’re good if they’re #PlantManDan’s favorites New succulents came today, so check out the link in bio to see if your favorites are here! We’re also open for in-store shopping every day from 10am to 5:30pm. . #staffpick #succulents #crassula #succulentlove #succulove #shopsmall #bernalheights #sanfrancisco See more
