This past Saturday we had some awesome folks take part in the first ever SF Virtual Relay. Our adventure started at 7am and ended at 7pm (the post-relay happy "hour" ended at 9pm). For the 12 hours we had people running, walking, hiking, cycling, and even in-line skating their legs of the relay. We even had people get creative with their routes and spell things out. Virtual "batons" included a rolling pin, a slotted spoon, and a garlic press. And most importantly, we had fun being active and bonding with our fitness family! This pandemic will not define us, but how we take care of ourselves and each other will... so why not have some fun staying active and healthy? #StructuralFitness #FitnessFamily #VirtualRelay #FitnessFun #NoExcuses

"After accounting for other medical conditions that often coexist with obesity, such as high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease, the data showed that obesity itself was the most significant predictor, after age, for hospitalization in COVID-19 patients." Getting to and maintaining a healthy weight is important in minimizing and preventing risk from various diseases and cancers, and it looks like it might be a factor with COVID-19 too. There have been some lighthearted... jokes about people gaining the "quarantine 15" (pounds) and I've even read some articles quoting health professionals suggesting that with all the extra stress right now people shouldn't be overly worried about their food choices and activity. I couldn't disagree more! Eating healthy doesn't have to be stressful. Eating healthy doesn't have to be expensive. In fact, fueling the body with high quality nutrient dense foods and staying active are great ways to manage stress and keep the body and IMMUNE SYSTEM healthy. Who wouldn't want a strong and healthy immune system... during a pandemic? So let's do this !
