FROM THE PASTOR: FOOD FOR THE SOUL May 5 (In this section. Fr. Joe offers some insights and questions for reflection and meditation.) The following are the words of Jesus as He preached to the people about the Good Shepherd: My sheep hear my voice, and I KNOW them, and they follow me. We expect Jesus to say that the sheep follow him because THEY know him, but instead He says that they follow him because HE knows them. The word Know in the bible goes beyond simple kn...owledge and recognition. It refers to a relationship characterized by love and union. That is why He said: The Father knows me and I know the Father. It is in our nature to long to be knownto be understood at the deepest levels. And that is what Jesus exactly gives us. He sees to the depth of our hearts. He loves us and cares for us. He knows us. That is why, as sheep who belong to the sheepfold of Jesus, we listen to His voice and we follow Him. Reflect on how you can remain to be faithful in the sheepfold of the Lord in the midst of all the trials and temptation that could make us astray from our Good Shepherd. See more

FROM THE PASTOR: FOOD FOR THE SOUL May 4 (In this section. Fr. Joe offers some insights and questions for reflection and meditation.) The Gospel of St. John chapter 10 tells us about Jesus as the Good Shepherd who leads his flock to green pastures, takes care and provides for their needs and lays down his life for his sheep. These are the duties and responsibilities of a good shepherd. We all do recognize Jesus as our Good Shepherd whose voice and lead we must always fol...low. We also have other shepherds in our lives and in our Church the Pope, the bishops, the pastors. They are given duties and responsibilities to lead us and provide for our spiritual needs. But let us not overlook that all who are given responsibilities in life are also shepherds in a certain way and they have to lead by example. And let us not forget, too, that every family is like a little Church where the parents are shepherds for their children with duties and responsibilities to lead and provide not only material things but also spiritual things. In your status in life, given certain responsibilities to fulfill, how do you carry them out as a good shepherd after the example of Jesus? See more
