Drone shots are a staple in all our videos at Story Directive. Why you ask? Not only do they add visual interest but they are also the beat way to show location and a sense of place. Another way to grab a viewers attention.

Story Directive was created to support and help businesses succeed with great storytelling content. Telling stories to your current and potential clients is more important now than ever before. Right before the COVID 19 pandemic hit we started a new campaign called CREATOR'S. It was started to feature great companies and individuals that struck out on their own and started something great. The idea was to ask three simple questions:... These are short pieces in which I asked only 3 questions. 1-What do you do? 2-Why do you do it? 3-What advice can you give on how to be successful? The idea is they are short, insightful, and helpful. Today we are featuring a great friend of mine Ian Shive. He is a gifted photographer, cinematographer, and founder of Tandem Stills and Motion. You can find his amazing work and his company here: www.tandemstillsmotion.com www.ianshive.com www.tandemstock.com Thank you Ian for letting me feature your amazing company and skills behind and in front of the camera.

I think one of the best results of the pandemic is the increased appreciation for the people that work everyday jobs. I know I have. Jobs that before the pandemic were not considered notable or appreciated like they should have been all along. I'm thinking truck drivers, farmers, grocery store clerks, gas attendants, restaurant workers, construction workers, etc. The jobs that for many haven't been classified prestigious or considered honorable, have now reminded us all that ...they are more essential than ever. I've always had a deep respect for people that get up every day and work hard at jobs that are physically demanding, undesirable, and that often go unnoticed and unappreciated. These are the jobs that actually make the world go round. That respect and appreciation has increased for me even more over the last two months. I hope we don't forget this lesson and gratitude for the people that provide our basic needs and do the jobs that many are unwilling to do. Here are a few photos from personal projects and client jobs that honor these types of jobs. Brandon Flint Founder

It’s still amazing to me that with a little flying camera you can capture images and video content that you used to have to hire a drone team to do or rent a helicopter and pilot to get. Technology has made it so everyone can get great content for their business. If you are wondering what to do with this down time, we are happy to do an assessment of your current content and offer suggestions of what you can be doing to improve it! Stay safe out there, and hopefully we can back to shooting soon! Stay Safe out there! @ Newport Beach, California

I'm starting a new little social/email campaign for Story Directive where we feature and tell a quick story of different business owners, entrepreneurs, athletes, musicians, etc. Successful people that have started something, excelled at something, and/or are doing something amazing. They also could be stories of failure that helped you learn how to be successful. Those are also important to tell, no one wins all the time. These are the people that I want to feature. I need y...our help finding them. They will be featured by creating a short 20-30 second video of them answering just a few short questions about how they got started, and why they do what you do, what they love about it, and a word of advice. Easy. Then pair that with a beautiful portrait. Simple and easy to share, yet impactful. If you know of anyone or wouldn't mind being featured, including yourself please let me know. Give a shout out to someone you think would be cool to feature! Featured participants are welcome to use the content we create for their own self-promotion as a thank you. Ready.....Go!

IF YOU CONFUSE YOU LOOSE That is one of the best marketing quotes I’ve read lately from author Donald Miller. As much as creating great looking content is important for success so is the messaging behind it. One of the things we do at Story Directive is help our clients figure out the messaging behind each video we create for them. Video can only be a powerful as the message behind it. If that message or story falls flat or leaves people confused then it won’t be effective. That’s why stories are so powerful, they can convey complex messages in a short, concise, and easy to understand way.

The importance of Perspective and Vision~Starting and growing a business is hard work, harder than most people imagine. One of the reasons is because no one can do it for you. Every entrepreneur has to come to this realization. You are the only one that can see the path forward. You are the one that has to have the vision and perspective to keep things moving when it gets hard. That can bring feelings of being both completely overwhelmed and at the same time complete liberation. Keep going though you didn’t get this far to fail. #keepgoing

In just a few hours the greatest foot race on the planet starts in Chamonix France. Athletes from all over the world compete in one of the hardest and grueling races running around Monte blanc through three countries over 100 miles and over 36,0000 feet of elevation changes. Exactly one year ago today. I had the opportunity to stand at the start line in the shadow of the amazing Alps and experience it for the first time. I’ve never been to the Olympics but I bet the energy le...vel and excitement would be similar. I had always seen images and films from the race and had dreamed of standing there and experience it for myself. This opportunity came thanks to my good friend Sally McRae or Yellowrunner who was competing in the race got me a place to stay and COROS Global was needing shots of her so it all came together. I had three objectives 1-Get shots of Sally 2-experience the race first hand (it was also my first time to the alps) 3-Try and document Sally’s race the best I could by myself, which I learned is almost impossible. In the end I got some great shots of Sally (barely thanks to a crazy plane, and experienced the amazing event. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst years for Sally and most of all the American athletes. Most of them did not finish the race due to illness, fatigue or injury, but it was an incredible experience that I will remember for the rest of life. A lesson that things rarely go as planned. Follow Yellowrunner over the next couple of days she is going to destroy the course and hopefully find the podium. Keep Pushing Sally! Best of luck to Tim Tollefson and all the other American racers. Let’s do this! Enjoy the short edit of my experience last year and follow my new content production company Story Directive if you are not already. See more

Hello! Brandon Flint here. I thought it would be good to introduce myself to the IG world. I’m the founder of Story Directive. I’ve been behind a camera for almost 25 years now. I launched this company for one reason and that was to help small businesses, artists, musicians and entrepreneurs succeed. I believe we do do that by connecting potential customers to them with the power of stories using video and photos. We focus on the why behind what people do what they do and what makes them unique, not just what they do. That’s how people connect. If people relate to you and what you are doing they are more inclined to do business with you. When people see why you do what you do that’s where the magic is. Feel free to reach out and let us show you why we do what we do!
