Hi Stony Creek Fans! We're happy to announce that we are open for the season in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. We are centrally located in the Giant Sequoia National Monument, on the Generals Highway between Grant Grove in Kings Canyon, and the Lodgepole/Giant Forest areas of Sequoia National Park, with easy access to the most popular attractions in both parks. ... A continental breakfast is included with your room rate. Our onsite Pizza Restaurant is very popular, but if you are interested in buffet dining instead, Stony Creek Lodging guests are welcome to eat at our sister property, Montecito Sequoia Lodge, for a discount. Ask about Montecito meal times, pricing, and discount rate for our lodging guests, at the Stony Creek Front Desk when you check in. Wondering what to do during your stay in the parks? Here are some tips of places to see and things to do if you are coming to our lodge: If you are planning your trip, we recommend taking a look at the scenic drives in the parks, as recommended by the National Park Service here: http://www.nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/driveviewsum.htm Giant Forest is the most popular visitor area in Sequoia National Park and is located south of Stony Creek along the Generals Highway. Here you can find the points-of-interest and easy hikes located in this area: https://www.nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/gfdayhikesum.htm Here you can find popular hiking trails located between the Stony Creek Lodge and the Grant Grove area of Kings Canyon, which is north of us: http://www.nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/ggdayhikesum.htm For those a bit more adventurous, here is a listing of hikes in the Cedar Grove area of Kings Canyon (North & East of us, towards the end of Hwy 180). The hikes range from very easy (Zumwalt Meadow, Roaring River Falls) to more challenging (Mist Falls, Cedar Grove Overlook, Lookout Peak). The drive to Cedar Grove is spectacular! https://www.nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/ccdayhikesum.htm We also recommend the Crystal Cave tours, located in Sequoia National Park. Crystal Cave is just south of the Giant Forest area of Sequoia National Park (make sure you purchase tickets at the Lodgepole Visitors Center before driving to the cave): http://www.explorecrystalcave.com/important-info.html If you would like to horseback ride in the parks, you can ride at the Grant Grove Stables (in the Grant Grove section of Kings Canyon), or you can ride at the Cedar Grove Pack Station (in the Cedar Grove section of Kings Canyon). Advanced Reservations are recommended. You can find more information here from the NPS: http://www.nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/horseride.htm We also recommend going to a Visitor's Center when you arrive in the parks to learn more about these parks. Here is a list of the Visitor's Centers by location: http://www.nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/visitorcenters.htm

Dear Stony Creek Fans, We will be closing Stony Creek Gas, Market, and Restaurant for the time being. The Sheriff's Office has closed Highway 180 between Dunlap and the Kings Canyon Big Stump Entrance, to allow unfettered access to the fire crews battling the fire in areas North of 180. While we are not currently under threat of fire, our Lodging has been closed due to smoke impacts since before Labor Day Weekend, along with the surrounding campgrounds. With the closing of ...Hwy 180, we really don't have any customers to serve, and we would like our staff to get out of the smoke. We will advise you of any changes in the near future regarding our operations. We are keeping our hardworking firefighters battling this blaze in our thoughts and prayers, and, most of all, want them to stay safe! We thank them for successfully managing the fire in the Hume Lake area and East of Buck Rock and North of Big Meadows Road, and hope that they are successful in containing the fire in the other areas soon. They are doing a heroic job under extraordinary circumstances. We would also like to thank our hardworking staff, who have worked to keep Stony open to serve guests and government agencies needing our services (including firefighters), such as gas, from Stony, during a very difficult time. Please keep them in your thoughts, as some of our current and former staff, live in areas near Hwy 180, that are currently under an evacuation warning as the fire heads south from the Converse Basin area. We wish everyone the best in keeping safe, and hope that the firefighters are able to keep homes and property protected, along with protecting the areas' many cultural (natural & man-made) resources in harm's way. Thank you fighters! Sincerely, Stony Creek Lodge, Market, Restaurant & Gas
