Remarkably, it is also the only surviving Roman amphitheater with all four side-towers still intact. It was built in the 1st century with - you guessed it - Croatian limestone

Do you love the look of a natural stone that patinas, but don’t want to worry about spilling acids, alcohols, or setting down hot pans? Soapstone is perfect for you! It’s so nonporous and bacteria resistant that it is used in laboratories - just watch out for scratches, which are easily buffed out. For care, we only recommend periodically applying a light coat of beeswax or mineral oil to aid its gorgeous aging process; no chemical sealers are necessary. Low maintenance, natural, & sustainable

Look at that limestone! Pietra di Cardoso comes from the Tuscan village of Cardoso in Italy, located very close to Carrara. In fact, the literal translation is Stone of Cardoso. While limestone is a fairly porous stone, and therefore possible to stain and scratch, it is extremely dense, strong, & resistant to corrosion & heat, making it an extremely popular choice both outdoors & indoors. When used on a kitchen countertop, like pictured here, proper sealing is always recommended, as well as the use of gentle soap & water to clean (no harsh chemicals)!
