Pride brought about the fall of Lucifer. Pride was the tempt...ation the serpent used in the garden to tempt Eve, telling her that she could be like God. The pride of Nebuchadnezzar precipitated the onset of his madness. And knowing that God hates pride as he does, is not pride itself madness? The antithesis of pride, the cure for pride is humility. In pride we cannot please God, but God loves and rewards humility. Humility recognizes that it’s not about me, it’s about God. Humility remembers that when God asks, who is like Me, and to whom will you compare me, that He asks a rhetorical question that demands the response, No one Lord! It is the humble who will inherit the earth. The humble acknowledge that their lives are in His hands and that they owe their very existence to Him. The humble are heard in prayer and their sins are forgiven because they repent, they turn away and renounce their sin to honor and glorify God because they have entered into a saving relationship with the living God through Jesus Christ. Humility is expected of those whom God calls, My people. Beloved, let us humble ourselves! 2 Chron 7:14
