This is the second day in Ms. Alicia’s Red Room. The children are all engaged in play and I don’t see any tears. Yeah!!!

Today is our first day of the 2020/2021 school year at St. Olaf Childcare Center. I started here in October 1995 as the secretary. In 1999 I became Director when Kathy Cavaness left. Every year on her first day of school, her husband, Larry, brought her flowers. When I became Director, one of my teachers, Mrs. Bertha Ahmad, took over that tradition and gives me flowers. She retired in June of 2017 and still brings me flowers every year on the first day of school. She is an amazing friend.

It’s always makes me smile when I get to use this sign ! KINDNESS comes in many different ways!!

We have a very talented young lady on our team. Richelle Crew transformed our Play House in our inner courtyard. It is super cute. She is amazing!

Our oldest class had some fun last week exploring green beans that I grew in my garden. I left them on the plants a little too long which makes them taste different and the beans inside turn to hard bean seeds. Or something like that. They were so intrigued with the process of tearing them open and saving the beans. Lots of bean counting and size comparison was going on. Afterwards they planted some in baggies with wet cotton balls so they could see them sprout. They also took some home.
