Hello St. Mary’s Community! Here is the weekly installment of our teacher feature! We hope you are enjoying these and are getting to know our teachers a bit better! This week we are featuring our wonderful 1st grade aide, Mrs. Jackson! Thank you for all you do! 1. My full name is Jeanette Mary Jackson but I like to be called Jeanne.... 2. I’ve been working at St. Mary’s for 14 years. I started in 2006. 3. I started part time in the library. I then became the 5th grade aide. I’ve assisted in many of the grades at one time or another, but spent most of my time in 4th and 5th grade. I started aiding in 1st grade 5 years ago and I love it! 4. I came to St. Mary’s 20 years ago when I was looking for a preschool for my daughter & son. My daughter Jordan & son Jacob both went to St. Mary’s from preschool through 8th grade. My daughter Jordan is now 25 and son Jacob is 21 years old. Time flies! 5. My favorite thing about working at St. Mary’s is helping and teaching the children and watching them grow. I have seen many children come and go through the years and they are all so unique and special. They teach me so much every day! 6. I love the beach and the ocean and the warm weather. 7. I love Hawaii! I love everything about the Aloha spirit! I love the slow paced lifestyle and of course the tropical beaches. 8. Once Covid is over I hope to go to a concert! I love live music. I also really missed the Del Mar Fair and hope it’s open next summer! 9. That they are God’s Precious children and that they each have a special gift to share with the world. 10. St. Mary’s will always be my home away from home and each child that has crossed my path has forever left their footprints on my heart. Continued from the last post about Father Rey! On August of 2011, I came to United States when I was granted a petition by my parents who already live and work in the Bay Area, in San Jose, California. When I arrived there, I applied for a Diocese that would allow me to continue my priestly ministry. With God’s guidance and blessings, opportunity came that in the early month of 2012, our former Bishop, Most Rev. Robert Brom responded and accepted me to help him serve his peo...ple in the Diocese of San Diego. My first official assignment in our Diocese was at Blessed Sacrament Church in San Diego, as an associate pastor for two years. Then became a hospital chaplain at the three South Bay Hospitals, for almost three years while residing at Mater Dei Church in Chula Vista. Later on, I was assigned at the Most Holy Trinity Church in El Cajon as an associate pastor for almost four years. And recently, our Bishop, Most Rev. Robert McElroy appointed me to be the pastor here at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church in Oceanside. At this time, may I ask everyone to please include me in your prayers. I will be your companion and your servant-leader in this very welcoming and friendly-faith community. Hopefully, God willing, I will be able to serve this community well, with a heart according to the heart of the Good Shepherd, our Lord Jesus. With the help of our Heavenly Father, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, may the yoke and burdens that I carry will be made easier and light. And may the intercessions of St. Mary, Star of the Sea, be upon us always.

Good Afternoon St. Mary, Star of the Sea Community! We realize not everyone may have gotten the opportunity to meet Father Rey, our new Pastor! We asked him to write something up about himself and what a treat! We are so lucky to have him as a part of our parish and school community! Please join us in welcoming him! - I was born in Cebu City on June 1, 1971 and was raised in Talibon, Bohol, Philippines. During my childhood days, I felt the calling to... the priesthood. I remember when I was a child, my parents always bring me to Church on Sundays. I was attracted to see some kids serving at the altar and I am sure, it was God’s first sign. After I attended my High School at a Catholic School run by the Augustinian Nuns, I decided to follow that calling. I entered my priestly formation at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary having my College Degree (Major in AB Philosophy and Minor in English) for five years. Then continued my theological studies at Seminario Mayor de San Carlos, Faculty of Theology in Cebu City for another five years. Although I am not worthy, by the grace of God, I was ordained as a Diocesan Priest at my home Diocese (Talibon) on May 21, 2001. I served there for ten years with different assignments. Six of those years, I became the pastor and was able to build a Church Structure in honor of St. Joseph in Cogtong, Candijay, Bohol. And at the same time, our Local Ordinary assigned me to lead a diocesan wide devotion to our Lady of Fatima (World Apostolate of Fatima), while taking care of our Lady of Fatima Diocesan Shrine and built a retreat house there at Fatima, Carmen, Bohol. Continued in the next post. . .
