Merlin has been an employee of Dignity Health - St. Mary Medical Center for 40 years as an ICU nurse. She became a patient herself when she was admitted to the hospital after testing positive for COVID. After eight months of being in the hospital, 3 of which she was in the ICU, Merlin was discharged today. Even more remarkable, she’s the first patient to leave the hospital walking. She is a true definition of strength and an inspiration for all. And by her side was her daughter, Shantell, who despite her own physical challenges, has been her mother’s biggest supporter and cheerleader. #Hellohumankindness
Today is a special day because Dignity Health - St. Mary Medical Center officially began vaccinating frontline health care workers after receiving the first doses of COVID-19 vaccines just yesterday. These healthcare workers were amongst the first to get the vaccine this morning, the very first being Dr. Brad Richard, Anesthesia, at 6:09 a.m. Please join us in giving a round of applause to all the staff who organized today's vaccination, and kudos to the nurses who administrated the vaccine. #COVID19
