A story of hope and healing

St. Luke's Lutheran Church 30.09.2020

28 Come to Me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

A timely archived Courier, September 2011 CHANGE And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called accordin...g to His purpose. Romans 8:28 Are you uneasy about the changes going on around you? You are not alone. Endings and beginnings are tough for most people. It often seems like we are going through a period of adjustment whether we like it or not. It is often hard to tell the difference between endings and beginnings. Most people prefer the comfort of their work and relationships staying the same, but that would eliminate the growth process that accompanies every transition. The stability and security you cherish may vanish with an ending, but the good news is that when something dies, something else is born. Martin Luther once said, I have had many things in my hands, and have lost them all; but whatever I have been able to put in God’s hands, I still possess. We need to learn to let go of things in order to live with any measure of stability. If anything in this world is impossible, it is the effort of attempting to stop endings and beginnings. To let go and live means to allow some doors to close so new ones may open. God does not close a door without opening another one. That may be tough to see sometimes, but if you look back at your life, chances are you can see the hand of God in each and every change. God wants us to remember and cherish the past without clinging to it! We can’t go back. only forward. Our past, truly, is not our potential. So as much as we all would like things to stay comfortable and just as they are, we need not fear change because our God is the God of our Past, Present and Future. Change is part of God’s plan for us to grow and do the work God wants us to do while we are alive on this planet. As our world continues to change, let’s remember that to let go of the past allows us to claim the bright future God has waiting for us. And that makes it all worthwhile. See you in Church. Love, Pastor Garry

June 18, 2020 Hi there, St. Luke’s. We hope you are all doing well and are healthy and safe. This Sunday, we are inviting our St. Luke’s family to join us in a live worship service for both the Contemporary at 9:00 and the Traditional Service at 11:00 if you feel comfortable enough to do so. We have taken all the precautionary measures to ensure everyone’s safety. Both services will also be broadcast as usual. Here are the primary requirements: 1. Masks will be required at al...l times in the church. If you have a mask, great. We will have masks on hand as well. 2. The garden will be open if you would feel more comfortable outside. Once in the garden you can remove your mask. 3. There will be one entrance and one exit only. 4. There will be hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes at key locations 5. We will be taking your temperature. We ask that if you’re not feeling well to stay home. 6. Ushers will direct you to your seats which have been carefully spaced to ensure the required 6 feet distance between the rows. 7. The elements will be blessed by Pastor, but the tray will be placed on a table. The wafer and wine are individually packaged so that the only one touching it is you. 8. All windows and doors will be open for ventilation. We also have 2 fans. 9. Gloves will be worn by Pastor, the ushers, and those preparing the elements. 10. The offering plate will be located at the exit at the end of service. 11. The sanctuary will be sanitized after each service. 12. The podium will be wiped down between uses throughout the service. 13. The bathrooms near the Choir room will be available for use. We know that this will be an on-going process and we would welcome any feedback with regards to both live worship services and live broadcasts. Thank you sincerely and God Bless!
