It's just a blessing to tell the world of our success story. There was a time when I thought we were never going to get to this point! We definitely don’t look like what we have been through. Lisa, St. Jude patient and mom of St. Jude patients Javon and Jakayla. Lisa and her two kids have something in common besides being from the same family and always being happy each was diagnosed with childhood cancer. Though Lisa and her kids experienced cancer at different times, e...ach received the same care at #StJude, chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, which put them in remission. As a 12 year old boy, artist Derek Fordjour would visit the hospital and play on its grounds. I was never clueless that there was something serious happening, and that people needed care, he said. But the environment was uplifting, you know? And also inviting. We never felt like we were unwelcome or that we were intruding. And then, his friend was diagnosed with sickle cell It wasn’t until I learned that he had to go to St. Jude that I connected everything..the only hope for my friend was going to St. Jude. Flash forward nearly three decades later, Fordjour is a rising #artist based in New York City and is still being inspired by St. Jude.
