Another disc brake upgrade/enhancement done. This time, @rideshimano XT 4 piston stopper with @galferusa_bike 223mm x 2.0mm rotors front and rear. Now, this e-bike has sufficient braking. I have a couple sets of rotors left in stock. I will be getting more rotors in soon. Once I sell out of these rotors, I can’t promise when I will be getting more in. 2 years ago today, I almost died from a massive heart attack 20 minutes after the first ‘cross race of the season. I was thinking about getting a new ‘cross bike at the time. But, after the hear attack, I wasn’t sure if I would ever race again. So, I told myself if I race a complete cyclocross season, I would get a new bike. Have been selling and installing a bunch of these lately. Galfer USA Wave rotors are a great alternative to stock rotors. These are 223mm and 2mm thick. The larger diameter is ideal for e-mtn bikes by increasing the power of the brakes to better control the added weight of e-bikes. The thicker 2mm rotor (most stock rotors are 1.8mm thick) does a couple of things. It makes for a rotor more resistant to heat, makes the pads contact quicker (shorter lever stroke) and increases the rotor life. I have 2mm thick rotors is 223mm, 203mm and 180mm. I am rebuilding these nearly 25 year old Chris King Precision Components Classic hubs to new rims. Before lacing the hubs, I am servicing the bearings and Ring Drive. In the roughly 25 years as a bike mechanic, I have yet to see any part of a Chris King hub need replacing, except for the occasional snap ring and seal. Once these bearings amd Ring Drive are serviced, the hubs will feel like new. How will these be built? Classic, with 26 rim brake rims, silver spokes and silver brass nipples.
