Today is the feast of St. John Neumann, patron saint of Catholic education. Now more than ever as many of us have become the primary teachers of our children, we ask for St. John Neumann’s intercession. Help us to lead our children and youth closer to Christ through our teaching and our example. St. John Neumann, pray for us.

Today’s Gospel is the parable of the dishonest steward. He is called to give an account to the rich man of all he had done. This parable points to when we ourselves will be called to give an account of our lives and the condition of our soul. Will we be like the dishonest steward and turn to earthly ways and human desires as our source of pleasure? Or will we use our earthly resources to prepare our souls for eternity? As we approach Stewardship Sunday, today’s Gospel gives us a chance to reflect on what type of steward we are. https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/110620.cfm
Today we pray for all those who have died. May the souls of all the faithful departed Rest In Peace.

Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe for the Protection from Coronavirus Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas. We fly to you today as your beloved children. We ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as you did at the wedding in Cana.... Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world, and for all our families and loved ones, the protection of your holy angels, that we may be spared the worst of this illness. For those already afflicted, we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful, wipe away their tears and help them to trust. In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts. We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother, health of the sick and cause of our joy. Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen.
Today is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. We celebrate the miracle of Mary’s conception completely free from the stain of original sin. Mary was born a pure and fitting vessel for bringing God’s own Son into our world. This Advent, let us ask Mary to intercede for us that we also might be pure vessels to receive Christ into our hearts. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us.

Pope Francis has marked today, September 1, as a World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. Between now and October 4 (the feast of St. Francis), Pope Francis calls Catholics around the world to pray for our world and for each other. Let us thank God for the beautiful gift of creation. Let us ask God's blessings upon all He has created. Let us resolve to do our part through prayer and conscious living to be mindful and respectful of the gifts we have been given.

"Now those who had been scattered went about preaching the word." Acts 8:4 We're grateful to be able to gather outdoors for Mass each evening, but all of us still feel the reality of being scattered apart from our normal lives. Wherever you've been scattered, God knows you are there and He is there with you. How are we proclaiming the truth of the Gospel from where we are right now?

In today’s Gospel, Jesus calls us to mercy. Mercy is about more than giving or sacrificing. It is a way of living by loving. It is entering into the broken and the mess and letting our love dwell there. Today, let us ask God for the gift of mercy.
