Phill Evans has too many cool toys... this artist is the "real deal", always kind and always fun. He's at "Fire and Rain" in Folsom.

Wait til you see what Phill Evans created when he saw this spiral sphere I got free on 45 th street in July. It was originally from the historic Portland Grand... theatre. family bought it... Art Nauvesu style. They loved it for years 1978-now snd were letting it go. My daughter spotted it in July on the street with a sign that said Free. She called to say there was an interesting sphere with a kind of filigree pattern. It was a hot day and I’m trying to get rid of stuff with potential, but my curiosity won and I jumped in our pick up just in case and talked with the owner who told the story that went with it. I brought it home got it out with help from my neighbor the base which was a tire filled with cement..... was so heavy I could not budge it. I got a cart so it could be moved but it plunged through the cart and hit my legs. It took 3 weeks to heal but nothing was broken. When Phill dropped by to check out his spot for open studio he saw the sphere and commented that it would be cool floating.two days later he comes over with a base and a tall solid steel pole and a 13’curved arch . We grabbed a few rocks from the labyrinth to balance the sphere. It balanced perfectly. The only problem there are 6 guinea hens that perch in the trees overhead so guess I will cover it at night. Still have to paint and highlight it and glue in glass blobs. It is very calming to watch it move. Get your mask and come by. 10-5 sat & Sun See more

Cleaning up the studio hut in prep for open studio tour Sept 19-20! Friend & Partner in crime helping With spring cleaning even ventured on the roof to sweep tree leaves and hose off and lived to tell the tale.
