When I hear the word headshot, I immediately think of those ads on the back of a Safeway cart. Today’s headshots are not that at all. Scheduling a photo shoot with your favorite photographer is such a great place to get branding images. Sure you can get your classic close up, but what about behind the scenes, you and your partner, different layouts for social media, your workspace etc? It is the way to go! Create a Pinterest board with the types of images you want. Hire... a photographer that aligns with your style that can bring these images to life. Choose the location to shoot. Good morning my friends! I just want to remind you that it’s ok if your plan to accomplish whatever goal you are after, isn’t going AS planned. That’s life. Sometimes there are unforeseen circumstances or flaws in the best laid plans, etc. It’s ok to rest for a minute and reevaluate. Maybe it’s not the wrong goal, but rather the method of getting there needs to be tweaked. Maybe there’s actually nothing wrong with you. You are human, not a perfect person. None of us are. The difference is don’t let the pause be code for quitting on yourself. Use the pause to recognize what isn’t working, and what makes sense to do next. Dust yourself off, tell someone close to you the new plan so they can support you, and get off your ass and go get after it! I know someone needs to hear this! Love you!

I LOVE all of the vision boards, the goal setting, intention, new planners, etc all over my feed. It’s so inspiring! Kind of like adult Back to School! Except there are no new clothes, because where do we have to go? . It’s Tuesday, which means Just the Tip time! It’s not about makeup this week. Don’t die. I’ll be back on it next week. I wanted to share a practical guide on How to Run for Beginners. I was shocked at how long this blog took for me to write. Hours an...d hours of trying to think of every little detail that might help you start and succeed. Chris also shared some of his tips as he has been running for years, which were integrated into the content. One year ago, I started the Couch to Half Marathon training plan from womensrunning.com. You can swipe the images to see what it was about and screen shot. Running has impacted me in such a positive way, I almost feel like a different person. For the better. My hope is that this week’s blog (link in profile) finds its way to someone who has never run before, and has always been curious. Maybe they are like me and believed they didn’t have what it takes. Proving that shitty inner voice wrong is an incredible victory. I hope you complete your first half marathon. I hope you find joy in the process. I hope you find that moving your body changes your life, your confidence and your determination. Habits, even simply a running habit is the path to changing your identity. The most practical way to change WHO you are is to change what you do. Each time you run, you ARE an athlete, you ARE a runner. Trust yourself. You CAN actually accomplish this. I’m rooting for you! You can’t talk about family photos without bringing up Jodi Lynn. She is uber talented and her sessions are always booked out for months. She has a way with light, and capturing emotion. Happy New Year everyone! Who doesn’t love a clean slate? I sure do. From purging the house, goal setting, vision boards and getting organized, I’m all in. Wanna know the most common New Year’s resolution? You guessed it. I want to exercise more. That was my #1 for 20 years and I failed every single time. I have actually accomplished it for the past 2 years. Not only did I start to exercise regularly, but this past year I became a runner. If you have known me for years, then... you are as shocked as I am. There were quite a few of you interested in learning more about how to start running for beginners. I have been working on the content for this topic and will be sharing over the next few days. I started thinking about how running and how it all came about. I had an epiphany. There were a few key changes that occurred before the running. The most critical thing that produced change for me, I took from @msrachelhollis book, Girl, Stop Apologizing. It’s called 5 to Thrive as you can see from the photo. If you keep quitting on yourself, and can honestly say you don’t have healthy habits that serve you, start HERE. Do these 5 things every single day. #2 was my game changer. If you are not currently exercising, choose a daily walk. We all know a walk isn’t hard. That’s the point. Doing it everyday IS. Make a tracker and put it front and center. Set a goal for yourself that you know you can accomplish. Do it for 30 days, 90 days or even 2 weeks. Just do it. It’s not about the task, it’s about building the habit. I did it for 90 days, without missing one day and it changed my life forever. Being able to stick with something is so much more difficult than it appears to be. I wrote a blog today about how I was able to change from NEVER meeting my New Year’s Resolution to crushing the shit out of it. I cried when I wrote it, because I remember the struggle and how it felt. I KNOW there are those of you out there that feel that pain. Disappointing yourself on repeat. You can do it. Top 9! 2020 out so hard!!! Buh bye!!!!

Good morning! I’m drinking my coffee (does anyone else feel like there isn’t enough coffee in the world to make it lately???) and I wanted to share a few makeup tips with you this morning . 1. What should you use if you do a smokey eye and the naked waterline (the inside of the eye) is bugging you (it bugs me all the time!) and black eye liner seems too harsh, white would ruin the look, every makeup artist recommends Costa Riche from MAC but every time you try it looks li...ke you put on red eyeliner...try Powersurge eye kohl from @maccosmetics. It’s the perfect golden shade that has enough pigment to hide the naked skin but not so much it takes away from the look. It’s my go-to on clients and myself. 2. Try doing your brows first before anything else. They are the frame to your face and it’s nice to anchor the look. I’m obsessed with @nyxcosmetics Micro Brow Pencils (favorite shade ever is Ash Brown as it never looks red or pulls weird). Brow pencils work best on naked skin without moisturizer or foundation underneath to get those perfect hairlike strokes. 3. You know what I hate? So many things...but the look of a caterpillar lash. You read about You Tubers using Huda, Lilly Lashes or some other giant mink situation. Not every eye can pull those off. In fact almost no one can. They don’t have the kids space AND you block the eye lid so much in photos that you may as well have done your own makeup because no one can see your eyes. Don’t be afraid to double stack more natural lashes to create your own giant lash. I love @ardellbeauty 113 lash as a base (still can be long for some eye shapes) for long wispy lashes and then choose a shorter fluffy pair like Ardell 421 (my most favorite lash maybe ever and currently on sale for $2.99 at @ultabeauty!) to layer to create depth. 4. Bad at lip liner? It’s such an important step to ensure you are maximizing the size of your lips but also to ensure they aren’t floating in photos. Apply it after your lipstick to make it easier on yourself. Also choose a lighter shade. One of my favorite neutrals is old school from @maccosmetics Oak Lip Liner. I have done 12 Senior Session Makeups this week and not gonna lie...my dogs are barking! Plus regular makeups, lessons and a wedding this weekend, it feels like pre-Rona again!
