All STC horses were home by 9:30 this morning everyone stepped on the trailers without hesitation and we're calm when they got to the barn now @Tracey Gaede is taking me to the house to pick up the first load of tack and supplies off my deck

Irvine Regional Park is closed for fire operations in support of nearby #silveradofire. Peters Canyon and Santiago Oaks regional parks are closed due to high winds. Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park also closed.

All 9 horses in my barn are safe at Los Alamitos Race Track (thank you for allowing us a safe haven) and all the PHEC horses were moved and safe in a few locations. I want to thank Courtney for her help and support as we got horses moved to the loading area and she took saddles and equipment to her car for safe keeping, then she spent the afternoon with me bedding stalls, getting appropriate feed and water buckets setup for all the horses... I want to thank Tracey Gaede and Eileen Bennin for helping to get their horses on trailer to safety. Hopefully they won't have to stay to long it would be nice to have them home by the end of the week... Thank you to everyone who is helping along the way... More to Come.

Just when we think the blessings of Fall are upon us... Bam! We get slammed with another California heat wave! Please be aware of your horses this week, check drinker daily clean and working properly. Don't introduce any new foods or treats, stay on a familiar routine and exercise EARLY even lighter or stop on extreme heat day!!! Good rule of thumb - If you are uncomfortable in the heat so is your horse!!! I've added a heat and humidity chart that shows when it's safe to work your horse and when to wait for another day.

Food for thought if you're uncomfortable outside because of haze, smoke and ash remember so is your horse!

With the threat of fires and Santa anas and started blowing again it's time to make up an emergency special meds kit for your horse I suggest a minimum of seven days of every medication and special supplementation your horse needs take it home and put it in a cool place or your refrigerator if possible don't forget to date it that way if you don't need it you can always bring it back to the barn and use it and refill the supplies.
