If you wish to attend the outdoor Mass this Saturday, September 5 at 4:00 p.m. or Sunday, September 6 at 11:00 a.m., please be aware of the excessive heat warning and take extra precautions to keep yourself safe:... Bring water it is very important to stay hydrated in excessive heat Wear light, cool, loose clothing Wear a hat Bring an umbrella for shade As always, face masks are required for anyone over the age of 2, and 6-foot social distancing will be enforced. Please also bring a folding chair. If you have underlying health conditions or are sensitive to excessive heat, it is recommended that you do not attend outdoor Masses this weekend, and instead join us on YouTube for the live stream Mass from Serra Chapel at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. In this presentation, Dr. Lily Anne Welty Tamai explores the beginning of Asian American Communities in California in the late 19th and early 20th century. The experiences of Chinese, Japanese, and Filipino immigrants echoed one another due to the limitations in labor available to them, anti-Asian legislation, and the spaces they occupied in California’s racialized landscape.
