Rain or shine Star Dancers DANCE in the name of FUN! So happy we were able to (safely) dance between the raindrops today. Gotta love our kids!

Hi everyone! Though San Francisco is now allowing most businesses to reopen, children's dance schools still can NOT. Kids and teens need a healthy creative outlet with freedom of movement and expression more than they ever have. They need it now. They've been tied down too long. Staring into a computer screen all day is not healthy for them physically or mentally. Taking dance classes outdoors isn't always possible; dancing on concrete is hard on the joints, and the streets are dirty! Indoor safety protocols including safe distancing in dance schools are easily done. Please HELP by signing this petition.

We might be temporarily closed for indoor classes, but things are still blooming at Star Dance Studio! We look forward to being back inside soon. Have a happy & safe Halloween!

Ready to get started! This year's dance recital will be a virtual one. Not ideal by any means, but thanks to continually growing technology, we have a band-aid named Zoom. I'm also thankful to have dedicated and passionate teachers who have come up with creative ideas to help make our 70th Anniversary "show" as enjoyable as we can. Each of us has selected one favorite dance piece from the past 70 years to include with the 2020 Star Dance Studio recital video. Difficult choice...s, indeed. I (Micky) chose one of the last that I choreographed for my adult dance troupe, The Evening Stars. Forty-Second Street was a fun and upbeat tap dance - and it even won first-place and best-of-show in a 2012 dance competition! Thank you, ladies. It was marvelous to have the studio alive with people again yesterday. Thank you to all who came to the recital costume photoshoot. It's funny how happiness vibrates and emanates throughout our bodies. The smiles showed even under the masks! We needed this! Finally, something felt normal again. Memory Makers set a great schedule and we had very few waiting in line. Usually only one; but three was the most at any one time. Dancers removed their mask for the photos; otherwise they remained on. We're lucky to have a large airy studio, so we felt perfectly safe. Even the sun showed up!

These two munchkins were so thrilled to get back into the dance studio. Online dancing is not for them. They want the real deal! Yeah!

Hi everyone! This is Micky posting. We miss all our sweet dancers and their parents. You are the best of the best. We feel so lucky to have such wonderful people in our dance community. Not knowing when we'll be allowed to re-open, we've posted over 50 dance practice videos to choose from for our students. Please keep using those. Virtual classes will start the week of April 6, with a test run on April 4. Invitations will be emailed. We’re sorry to have to do this, but with the city closing everything down, it's in everyone’s best interest that we do the same. We all need to work together to help get rid of this nasty virus. Beginning Monday, March 16, Star Dance Studio will close for two weeks.

How about some happy news! With so much closing down, dance is alive and kicking. Today was this little cherub's first dance class in our new Babywearing Ballet Class. I'd never heard of it before, but mommy's "wear" their babies in their favorite carriers while doing ballet! This little doll's mommy, Katlin, is the teacher. Then, at the end of her first dance class, our little 6-month-old got a celeb photo with Brendon Chan from the cast of Hamilton, who happened to stop by. What a fabulous morning!
